Dec 15th: Warriors/Pistons/Hornets

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Thu Jul 18, 2019 8:28 pm

Ill offer this idea for:
-Warriors to get Griffin
-Pistons get a younger PG
-Hornets get PG depth

To Golden State (Russell, Spellman, 1st)
-Blake Griffin
-Tim Frazier
-2021 Lakers 2nd round pick
-2023 Portland 2nd round pick

To Detroit (Trade Griffin, Jackson, 2nds)
-D'Angelo Russell
-Marvin Williams
-Omari Spellman
-2022 Golden State 1st round pick

To Charlotte (Trade Williams)
-Reggie Jackson

Why?
-Warriors re-load by adding Griffin to core of Curry/Thompson/Green/Looney

Curry/Frazier/Burks
Thompson/Evans/Poole/
Green/Robinson
Griffin/McKinnie/Smailagic/Paschall
Looney/Stein/FA?

-Detroit gets younger by adding Russell to start as they re-tool with core of Kennard/Dombouya/Drummond

Russell/Rose
Kennard/Galloway/Thomas/Brown
Snell/Doumbouya/FA?
Morris/Williams/Spellman
Drummond/Maker/Wood

-Hornets swap out Williams for Jackson to get PG depth.

Rozier/Jackson/Graham
Batum/Monk/Martin
Miles/MKG/Bacon
Hernangomez/Washington/McDaniels
Zeller/Biyombo/FA?

Not sure why Golden State has to give up the pick here. Quite likely they prefer Russell anyway.

I think this trade would be a great move for GSW. They even out their roster by getting a front court star that would fit very nicely with them and make them contenders again. Good rebuild package for DET too. I would say yes if we indeed decide to rebuild.

Several problems.

First, GS is hard-capped for the season and right up against the hard cap. They'd can't add salary in a trade like this. It's against the CBA.

Second, Neither Draymond nor Blake work at SF. This leaves GS even thinner at Pg/SG/SF then they already are - and they're way too thin as-is.

Third, given age and health GS isn't adding value to swap Russell for Blake.

Forth, Why is Charlotte taking in Jackson?

Charlotte just paid big money to Rozier. It doesn't make sense to trade for Jackson

Well thought process is Hornets have 2 PGs right now (Rozier/Graham) and 4 guys who can play the 4 (Hernangomez, Williams, Washington, MKG)

Why would the Warriors give up the best player in this trade just so they can get a player who plays a position they don't need one at?

The Warriors arent giving up a 1st round pick for starters, that's ridiculous.

For the premise that Blake comes to Golden State, does a lineup featuring Curry/Klay/Green/Blake work? Would score a lot of points, and would take playmaking pressure off Green more which could be a good thing. At least Blake can shoot 3's and was hitting at 36% last season on very high volume for a PF.

There's still some hope for Spellman as well if he can move on from being a child to a pro athlete.

I'm not sold on it really due to Blakes age, plus the 1st the Warriors add in is just overkill completely. Pass.
