Detroit - Golden State

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Mon Oct 7, 2019 10:41 pm

Golden State trades: D'Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans, Omari Spellman
Detroit trades: Blake Griffin

Detroit gets some younger players to build around who will fit whether Drummond stays or goes. Golden State raises their ceiling this season. Curry-Griffin-Green is at least a contender out West, and adding Thompson later in the season should make them one of the favorites to win a championship.

Doubt the Warriors would do it.

The Warriors are hard-capped and only have like 200k clearance at this point. This trade does not work under the CBA. And even if it did sneak under the hard cap, we would be 2 more roster spots short with injured Klay Thompson taking one.

Diff deal

Spellman
Evans

For

Maker

DET gets some young guys who are on their rookie deals for a few years

GSW takes a swing and hopes something finally clicks with his upside

Boring deal

I'm inclined to just keep the two guys we got. No idea if Maker is any better or worse than what we already got, but I do know that we will be another roster spot short with not enough money to fill it. As it is we are running with 14 players on our roster and only a few $ short of the hard cap. With Klay out for more than half the year, that's not an ideal situation. Doing a 2 for 1 trade where we don't clear very much space just leaves us short yet another player. I suppose i would do this if I really believed in Maker, but I don't. Perhaps in the summer.

Maker doesn't have upside.

Also doesn't work with the hard cap as GS wouldn't have room to fill the extra rotation spot. And 3rd string center isn't a big priority (Spellman's as likely to be useful as Maker anyway).

Given I've been on the Thon Maker is dog **** train from the start of his rookie season, no, they haven't. Once the age stuff come out, I was completely out on him.
