BOS - ORL

Post#1 » by bpcox05 » Sat Oct 12, 2019 9:32 pm

--------------------------------------------

BOS Gets: Mo Bamba & DJ Augustin
BOS Gives: Marcus Smart
Why for BOS? They get a good prospect at C who can also help their frontcourt defense right away.

PG - Walker / Augustin / Edwards / Wanamaker
SG - Brown / Langford
SF - Hayward / Williams
PF - Tatum / Theis / Ojeleye
C - Bamba / Kanter / Williams / Poirer

--------------------------------------------

ORL Gets: Marcus Smart
ORL Gives: Mo Bamba & DJ Augustin
Why for ORL? With Vucevic signed long term, the Magic move a C with potential for a PG/SG who fits very well into this defensive minded team.

PG - Smart / Fultz / Carter-Williams
SG - Fournier / Ross / Frazier
SF - Gordon / Iwundu
PF - Isaac / Aminu
C - Vucevic / Birch / Humphries

I'm against it, I think if we trade any of our young bigs we need to be looking at improving our offense more than our defense and help take some of the scoring load off of Vuc's shoulders.

Orlando's weakness in the playoffs was offense. Smart is a good player and if we had more offensive players i would consider it.

I would rather try and find a team with a young SG/SF player to trade Bamba if we are trading him. Honestly, i think they want to see a full year of Bamba now before they consider anything

All these trade threads with Bamba just pisses me off, we were sooooooooo **** close to young or Doncic, F you Vogel and winning those meaningless few games at the end of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMO this just overvalues Smart - he's good and I love his game, but a high potential young big is worth much more than even a very good wing.

I don't really agree, every big man should be valued seperately, not every high lottery pick is a lock, just ask Philly. It's not like Bamba is a unknown rookie, GM's should have a inkling where his potential lies(not that I'm saying it's a good deal or not). I don't really don't see Smart as a wing either, he handles the ball a ton. His skill set isn't very common either, he prob has more appeal to a contendor though than a year ing team like Orlando.

Fwiw Smart is a very stealthy good playmaker and has been working on his 3 ball and would be a big upgrade on both ends for Orlando. If I'm Boston I would trade anyone other than Kemba/Tatum before him though.

That being said, value may be off, but if I'm Boston and Orlando is calling me about Smart I'm asking what needs to be added for one of their stud forwards and not wanting a Bamba deal.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

only 2 players Boston has could get Orlando's interest. Tatum (which i am sure is not available). Brown, but since he gets a new, giant contract next year something else would be needed.

I like Smart as part of an contending ensemble...I'm less convinced he's your lead guard. You could make an argument, based on last season, that DJ (the throw-in) is better than Smart today. I think it's too much going to Boston.

You have Orlando saying no to a straight Brown - Bamba deal ?

Orlando may say no now because Brown's contract in the offseason will put them in the luxury tax range and I doubt the magic want that unless they're contending.

that is the rub. In a vacuum, i would easily trade Bamba for Brown. But add in the thought that he will be looking for his next deal (did i hear he already talks about a max deal?) which would start being very costly. And we still dont know what Bamba turns out to be.
