Hawks need a Center after letting Dedmon walk.
(Hawks were willing to offer him up to $15 mil but only on a 1 year deal, he was looking for a longer deal, hence his deal with Kings).

Hawks still have approximately $5 million in capspace.
Expiring contracts of Chandler Parsons $27 mil (perpetually injured, had something done to both knees in offseason, again), Evan Turner $18 mil (I don't think he's the answer at backup PG) and Allen Crabbe $17 mil (he's rehabbing from knee surgery so hasn't played in preseason).

Available picks - BKN 2020, lottery protected for 3 years, OKC 2022 lottery protected for 2022, then 2 2nds.

What Center is available for these expirings and picks?

Something around Crabbe/D. Jones/sweeteners for John Henson/Brandon Knight.

Not big names, but Atlanta gets a guy who can play C and Knight who (at least on paper) can generate some offence off the bench.

Cleveland clears out Henson to free up minutes at C (unless they really want to give them to Jones I guess) and swaps one of their many combo scoring guards for a catch-and-shoot guy (at least on paper) in Crabbe. They also save $5M and get that extra room under the tax line.

The real incentive for Cleveland is the sweetener...though i don't know how inclined Atlanta would be to give up much.

Saving $5M seems like enough incentive for Cleveland given what they're trading away. Henson's behind Nance and possibly Thompson at center and Knight seems like a deep bench option given their guards.

I figure if Atlanta was trying this year they would have added a credible backup PG and C earlier in the offseason rather then take on multiple bad contract EC's for picks. Certainly sending picks back out for PG and C help now would contradict earlier moves.

No, we have enough wing ball handlers (Bembry, Huerter and Reddish) to initiate the offense.
Len came into camp with back and ankle injuries and it's showing, we also cant fix his 'badhands-itis'. Damion Jones is not much of an NBA players, Bruno is a rookie with potential but very raw. Coach Pierce prefers not to play Collins toouch at the 5.

Don't see much sweetner beimg added - it's a swap of expirings, plus Cavs saves a little money.

This is interesting.
Coach Pierce loves Bembry's defense and for a team that struggled defensively last year that would be a hard sell. Also considering Huerter is currently out with a knee injury and recently had a set back with a 'pinge' during practice yesterday, Bembry fills in as a ballhandler, drive and kick guy admirably even though his shooting needs a ton of work.

True, our GM has also said depending on development and progress of the players after the first 41 he's not opposed to making a move.
So I'm thinkinh more around the trade deadline depending on standings.

This would be an interesting trade deadline deal depending on the Hawks record.
I don't see Hawks giving up any of their core group of young players though, so it'll have to be a pick related package, particularly since Serge is a FA and the Hawks also can have up to approximately $78 mil in capspace next offseason to offer FVV a RFA offer.

Chandler Parsons/Damion Jones/BKN 2020 1st/2020 2nd for Serge and FVV.

Steven Adams is still the best option. Huge culture plus, brings a relatively soft team a lot of toughness. Huge plus setting screens. Can iso and score in the post. No, he doesn't shoot the 3 (Albeit he is working on one) and cant switch at an elite level. But those guys are really hard to find.

Yaas, I love this but it'll probably have to happen after OKC gets off Paul and truly embraces their tank.

Doubt Adams gets moved now for anything more than a big overpay. He’s the leader of the team and is already showing some new tricks.

I think Len is fine for what they need, but a backup center could be useful. I think they could just sign Willie Reed or Deyonta Davis to soak up 15 minutes.

You're probably right but let's be honest. Considering the role Westbrook occupied when he was dealt, no one there should be considered untradeble. Westbrook basically was that franchise. No way Adams can ascend to even that level of importance this soon.

@babyjax, we test drove D. Davis last season and he was ... not good ... at all.

I think the Cavs want see how Henson fits as the haven't had any type of rim protector in years.
