Trade #1

Additional Assets: Denver sends a 2nd rd pick to New Orleans.

Why: Derrick Favors is a great 3rd big for Denver to have, especially if they match up against the Lakers in the Playoffs. They'll need his size and defense to compete against them. They also cut loose on Beasley and take a flyer on Zhaire Smith. Philly gets an elite shooter with upside. New Orleans gets a decent role player, a veteran center, and a 2nd rd pick for a player they'll likely lose in the summer.

Trade #2

Why: An alternate version, this would be an all in move for Denver. They flip Monte Morris and two more wings to Minnesota for Covington(could add more value depending on how Minny fans feel). New Orleans gets Beasley + Plumlee. Denver loads up for a finals run with two game changers on the defensive end. Will Barton essentially becomes our sixth man and Denver does have an impressive PG stashed in G-league(PJ Dozier), who looks promising.

Really two separate deals, but both are reasonable.

The Smith/Beasley swap has Denver downgrading a player who doesn't play much in exchange for getting two extra rookie contract years, which makes sense. Philly does the reverse which works if they're planning on a significant role for Beasley and/or don't mind the added salary hit likely from resigning him.

The Favors/Plumlee swap also makes sense. Now that they're not trying for the playoffs this year NO trades a EC vet for a downgrade + minor assets. Though they're thin/injured enough at forward for Hernangomez to get some minutes. Denver trades extra depth for a win-now upgrade.

I really don’t see the Pels making any moves until Zion comes back. Also since Favors has been healthy they have been playing much better on d and are 6-2 overall.

If it goes off the rails again maybe, but as of right now, considering how pathetic the fight for the 8th seed has gone, Pels, feel like they are still in it and won’t trade their vets in the midst of the momentum they currently have.

Easy no from wolves on deal 2. Morris isnt nearly a sufficient return on Covington. Creates bigger problems than it solves for us.

I'd expect a no from NO as well. NO says they are still planning a playoff run and favors has been key to their defense lately

I can see reasons for either trade being rejected by any of the teams involved. However the deals still make a lot of sense, it would be very interesting.
