POR/ORL...again, but different

It has been an odd-numbered season, so POR may decide to bust up their "glass ceiling" backcourt...I've been pushing for an Aaron Gordon/CJ based deal but how about one that gives POR talent, prospect, options($)...Whiteside comes off the books, Simons is emerging...
POR sends: CJ McCollum
ORL sends: Evan Fournier, DJ Augustine, Mo Bamba
POR has two years of Nurkic so could bring Bamba along slowly and/or get a double double off the bench every night while they're waiting. He's very different than Nurkic in that he's got a very nice 3-stroke and absurd length. He's still scrawny and looks a bit lost at times, but there's no denying his possibilities-given his age and limited experience. Fournier is good for 19 ppg right now and would complement Dame well as he is bigger and can spread the floor like CJ. DJ is a solid bench PG, good for solid scoring, floor spreading, and veteran leadership. DJ and Evan expire this year totaling about 30m. Evan has a player option at 17 but he would likely resign for more years at a fair rate given a promising situation (I imagine)...or POR could look to clear cap along with Whiteside's for a big FA summer.
ORL needs an Alpha scorer. CJ is great with Dame, he'd be greater on his own.

I'd respectfully decline. This essentially works out to CJ for Bamba, as the other 2 players are guys you probably let go at the end of their contracts.
It's an okay idea, I just don't think it fits for Portland.

Dont see this for PDX. Bamba has some upside, but they have Nurk already on a great deal. DJ really doesnt do much for them and Fournier is a negative so they should pass

Throw in the rights to Chuma, and I'd be down with this.
It's been a long time since Portland has had a legitimate backup PG.

I don't think the value is right for Portland. I have always liked Evan more than most, but this is basically a downgrade at SG for a quality backup PG that is an impending FA and a prospect at a non-position of need. Its not a deal worth breaking up the Damian / McCollum duo for IMO.

In what ways do you think Evan is a downgrade?
They are fairly comparable players IMO. CJ has a little more ability on O. He has the potential to be a lead guard there. Evan is a little better defender.
Portland gets some value in Bamba for the flight risk of Evan.
Like I said above, if Portland could get the rights to Chuma, I think this would be a win-win for both teams.
Maybe you could include Tolliver & Trent to help balance the trade with rosters/salary too.

From (my) ORL perspective, I'm really seeing Chuma as a big piece for us (particularly if AG is moved)...I'd add a 2020 frp instead (unprotected but I'm assuming out of the lottery)

I dont think the difference between Fournier and McCollum is Bamba so as originally proposed I wouldn't do it.
I also think the entire point of acquiring McCollum is to play him alongside Fournier.
Adding Okeke is comical.
I could see swapping Bamba with a top 10 protected '20 pick if we wanted to go this route which imo makes us older, less flexibility and really solves nothing.
If I'm Orlando I just wait until Blazers get swept in the first round and call back in the summer.

I'm not familiar with Chuma but he can't be such a big piece that would prevent such a trade from
happening.

if magic think they can get Fournier to sign 3 yr 60 mill ext this summer to make it a 4 yr 77 to stay in orlando...is way to go ..I don't like what that cj contract would do and give assets to do it... value is fine..i just don't like it..not as high on cj as some..i am also fine if dj wants a 3-5 mill to hang next yr as backup unless draft a pg...I don't see any trades till draft....unless someone wants aminu?

Fournier playing with no floor spacers, and a recovering 21 year old "rookie" point guard instead of hall of famer Lillard and he still ends up being more efficient scorer this year. When you notice he is year younger, bigger and better defender and twice cheaper.... yeah i would definetly trade Bamba, Chuma and Dj......

You dont have to be familiar with Okeke to notice hop lopsided the original trade WITHOUT Chuma is.

I disagree. But we're free to our own opinions. Counting stats may paint McCollum and Fournier as somewhat similar players. But RPM and PIPM straighten that out. This looks to me like one of those rare bad for both sides trades.
McCollum is in my opinion a markedly better player than Fournier. Both are bad defenders overall, but McCollum may actually be better on traditional 1s where his lack of size isn't an issue. McCollum is not only better offensively, but playoff proven.
I think Portland is downgrading here. And they're doing it for a guy who really hasn't done anything at the NBA level, and doesn't play a position that Portland has almost any need at. If Portland were rebuilding I could see them doing something like this, they're not. To me, this is one of those bad for both sides deals.

This Portland fan would consider this pretty carefully, but I am higher on Bamba and lower on CJ than most.
Don’t want DJ or crepes.

This is a hilariously weak return for CJ.
