O Canada! Brooklyn, Golden State and Los Angeles

https://tradenba.com/trades/XFUVvJA3r

BRK trades Prince/ Dinwiddie/ Allen/Musa/Kurucs/#19 for Wiggins/McGruder/Looney/#2
The Nets absorb salary and consolidate assets for a high-lotto pick.
Irving, {Harris}, Wiggins, Durant, (Wiseman)
McGruder, Temple, Levert, Looney, Jordan

GSW trades Wiggins/Looney/#2 for Prince/Allen/Shamet/Kurucs/#19
The Warriors trade down to save payroll and improve their supporting cast. They use the Iguodala TPE to acquire Prince, and create a new $29.5mil TPE since they don't need Andrew's salary to complete the deal.
Curry, Thompson, Prince, Green, Allen
Shamet, Lee, Kurucs, Paschalle, Smailigic

LAC trades McGruder/Shamet/#57 for Dinwiddie/Musa
The Clippers add a playmaker and native son, to push them over the top.
Dinwiddie, George, Leonard, Morris, Zubac
Beverly, Williams, Musa, Green, Harrell

I don't see how this makes sense for the Nets. They're in a title window right now with KD. LAC makes out like bandits too giving up Shamet who barely played in the playoffs in exchange for Dinwiddie.

Yeah there's just been no rumors to support GSW is looking to make moves that make them worse just to save money.

I do not think GSW remotely considers this.

Tbh, I don't think this really makes sense for anyone except the Clippers, who take this and run.

Warriors FO doesn't seem inclined to cash in their chips for depth players and I have to imagine that if Brooklyn consolidates their assets it'll be in pursuit of a veteran, not a high draft pick.

Yes, if money were the only motivation here, it wouldn't be enough for GSW to move the #2 pick. But, it saves them money AND improves their team for winning right now. Finally, the creation of the $29.5mil TPE means that if a team is looking to offload salary, they can either add assets for a star, or absorb salary for a role player and recoup assets. It gives them additional options.

The Warriors should not be trading a #2 pick for backups and role guys.

Yeah I see no reason GSW entertains this.

As long as the whole point is that there is some guaranteed trade prepared with that TPE that throws them into contention, I like it. I don’t see one for just a TPE and the MIN pick. Got any actual examples in mind, because TPEs expire and if that happens it’s an embarrassingly bad deal for GSW.

I respect this point. I'm sure the Warriors had a few options in mind for the Iggy TPE, that have not yet come to fruition.

I cannot name a certain deal that's already in the works for this TPE. Maybe Milwaukee gets anxious at the TDL and gives up the last 3 months of Giannis for the MIN pick. Maybe you carve it up for several teams who need luxury tax relief, in exchange for assets. There is no guarantee here, who knows what the future holds. I don't think that that detracts from the value.
