OPJ to Dallas (Philly too)

Post#1 » by NYG » Fri Sep 25, 2020 12:30 am

Bulls get:
Al Horford
Justin Jackson
18th Overall Draft Pick
31st Overall Draft Pick

Mavericks get:
Otto Porter Jr.

76ers get:
Dwight Powell
Delon Wright

Bulls get a center that could provide the leadership and has experience with Donovan while adding essentially two first round picks and don’t shake up their core in doing so.

Mavericks create a ton more 2021 cap space while arguably getting better pending OPJ’s health.

76ers save $9 Million up front while adding two useful pieces once Powell returns from injury.

This is acceptable to Philly, but would be worlds better if we could find a team that would take Powell and 34 in exchange for another C.

CHA gets Powell and 34
CHI gets Horford, Jackson, 18, and 31
DAL gets OPJ
PHI gets Zeller and Wright

Makes significantly more sense to cut Philly out here

I was just trying to consolidate roster spots and found Horford as a good fit in doing so.

Could add 36, but can't give away 21 in this type of deal.

I get that, but also think it could be a line in the sand for Charlotte. I think you would just be better off just waiting on Powell to get healthy.

Philly needs to throw in the 21 for the bulls. This has them getting one more center that they don't need, and they should dump Felecio on the sixers too. Horford is 27.5 Delon and powell is 20. Philly is dumping 35 mil on the bulls, that is worth a first.

What do you see as the deal for the Sixers/Bulls? I guess it all would depend on who's available where when discussing value difference between 18 and 21 as well as 31 vs 34 (+36?). But on face value the Mavs package looks clearly better.

But ultimately OPJ is a tough player role to replace on this Bulls roster if you're going to try and sell "contending" as the vision. And Horford's contract is such a tough pill to swallow for 2+ seasons if you're selling a rebuild package based on middling to low picks in a "who knows" draft. So I just struggle to see the vision on either side when discussing this type of deal.

and I know others above don't like it for Chicago, but at the end of the day Al Horford would be useful both on the court and for culture setting and more importantly they get a top 20 pick and the 1st pick of the second round for Otto Porter Jr.

Isaac Okoro/Deni Avdija plus best 3 and/or D guys at 18 and 31 plus Jackson and Horford plus Non-Tax MLE could be a really nice team in the East.

To be fair, as mentioned above this likely works best as a straight CHI-DAL deal.

That's 5 for 1 on the roster spots though. I know mine is 4 for 1 still, I honestly was going to do the deal without Philly, but couldn't do a 5 for 1 deal.

I like the basic concept without the roster spot difference, this makes it 6-for-4...

Chicago Bulls get:
James Johnson
Delon Wright
Dwight Powell
Justin Jackson
1st Overall
31st Overall

Dallas Mavericks get:
Otto Porter Jr.

Minnesota Timberwolves get:
Thaddeus Young
Lauri Markkanen
4th Overall
18th Overall

This is pretty solid. Otto would be perfect in Dallas.

Billy Donovan thinks he's enough of a leader that he doesn't need help from his former college players.

Horford sends Carter to the bench and Gafford to the row behind the bench. Giving up Porter strips the Bulls of a respected leader, and that's saying something because he's hardly played for them and the players still respect him. He starts at the SF and when they trade Young they have the option of him also being the backup PF, getting Hutchison and possibly the #4 more work at the SF.

getting Horford, Jackson, #18 and #31 plus #4 and #44 is a gain of five players added to 12 under contract, Dunn and Valentine with qualifying offers where do they put 18-20 players on the roster?

The Bulls could be happier just dealing with DAL sending Porter for Wright, Powell and #18 or #31

I think I do it for Chicago if 21 is also included. Bulls could package 18, 21, and Gafford and probably move up just outside the top 10 or so, or trade for a 2021 pick.
