#1 and #2 to CHI?

Post#1 » by Xman » Sun Oct 18, 2020 3:51 am

Minny - gets AGordon $18.1, #13, and future 1st back
- gives #1, JJo exp 16

GS - gets Markkanen
-gives #2, Minny #1 in 2021, scrub salaries, (if needed could add GS #1 in 2022 w/ top 5 protection)

CHI - gets 1, 2, JJo, Aminu, GS scrubs, GS#1 in 2022 if included
- gives Markky 6.7, Porter 27.2

ORL - gets Porter (note - if my valuation on Porter is off, then add Carter, pick 4 or even 2)
- gives AGordon, #13, Aminu 9.7, [Bamba $6 could be added to GS or Minny if needed]

Minny gets a veteran who should fit well, its pick back which is nice and another lottery pick. Solid return.
GS rounds out its big 5 of curry/Klay/Wiggy/Markky/Green. Markky should fit really well with his shooting.

Note - if I am off on Porter eval then could scramble return to ORL and CHI.
ORL - Veteran SF to round out starters. Fultz/Fournier/Porter/Isaac/Vuc is solid with Bamba and Ross off the bench.
CHI - This is a reset. Already have pick 4 and looks bad. Could make a separate deal for Lavine and go forward with LBall, Wiseman, Avdija and Carter.

This is an amazing trade if you ignore all the non-Chicago teams

I am a fan of this deal.

How does Chicago get this much value from these two guys? Lauri is due an extension and Porter is overpaid.

When did Markkanen become Dirk?

GS laughs at this muck. Lockable.

For context of where I think the rest of the forum is, we have all debated whether #1 for #4 and Lauri Markkanan is fair (I think it is light for Chicago, but just giving my perspective).

If the Bulls had the assets to trade for #1 and #2 they would have such a talented team they would have no need for those two picks. This is way way out there territory

Tweaked:
ORL gets Carter who should be good burly compliment to make inside threesome with Isaac and Vuc. Porter gets a year to heal with Isaac. Dumps Aminu. #4 could be Avdija (or could sub White in for #4)

GS: GS is in a 3-4 year window before Curry/Klay/Green get old (and contracts start to expire). That is assuming owner does not blow it up before then due to $$. Has three options with that #2 pick.
First is to use the pick which is not good because the team falls apart before a rookie develops (Lamelo does not fit, Edwards and Wiseman need to develop a lot).
Second option is to trade down a little and stay in top 10. In which case, GS gets a mediocre plyer that will not help much.
Third option is to trade for a solid veteran. The problem is $$ keeps options low. As we have seen on tons of other posts, Wiggins is a big negative to other teams due to $$. But, GS can use him and is so far over the cap that $$ does not matter. So, very hard to deal Wiggins because he kills the value you get back for the picks. Dealing the pick with scrubs is not easy either. TPE player is 17.1 - which I had forgotten until just saw it elsewhere. Jordan Poole....2,063,280, Alen Smailagić....$1,517,981, Eric Paschall..$1,517,981, Damion Lee....$1,762,796, Chriss $1.8, Looney $4.5. So about 13. Good veterans are out of the price range (one exception could be Winslow). So, need good players at the end of rookie deals that have established themselves. But, not going to be able to get most for that pick. The young talent that has done well is jus worth too much. Markky is kind of an exception - shows studliness and disappears sometimes. But, he has shooting talent which would fit right in with GS. Added Bamba because he is that rare 3&D center that might be amazing there.
NOTE - will put out a new idea since the TE is available. That might open up options.

Minny - gets AGordon $18.1, #13, and future 1st back
- gives #1, JJo exp 16

GS - gets Markkanen, Bamba
-gives #2, Minny #1 in 2021, scrub salaries

CHI - gets 1, 2, JJo, Aminu, GS scrubs, GS#1 in 2022 if included
- gives Markky 6.7, Porter 27.2, #4 (or White instead)

ORL - gets Porter, Carter, #4 (or White instead)
- gives AGordon, #13, Aminu 9.7, Bamba $6

Still just awful for the Warriors. Markannen isn't worth anything close to the #2 pick. It's not going to happen.

If he's the best offer we get for the pick, I would keep it 11 times out of 10.

For perspective, I wouldnt do it if it was just Lauri for #2. This is just hideous for GSW.

If Chicago wants 2, a simpler deal like 4 + protected future 1st makes sense. Then if they want 1 from Minny... Lauri + Carter + ... well they’d have #2 at least.

Just to address the financial justification behind this deal specifically, the #2 pick can sign a deal worth $9.2M in their first year, which would allow GS to take back roughly $11.5M in salary. Add in Looney ($4.5) and Poole ($2.0M) and you're up to $19.6M returning. Add a couple vet min guys at $1.5M a pop and you're looking at being able to absorb north of $25M in salary. And that's without touching the TPE.

Short of a max or near-max player, there are ways to make the salary numbers work without including Wiggins.

hmmm
since GS has that TPE - might have better options so kills this thread if they are willing to use it.
I think the White/Carter/Markky/#4 are solid young base. LaVine and Porter could go in my opinion. Too bad Minny would not take them and GS cannot fit them into their salary slots.

You obviously value Markannen WILDLY more then most people. (he might return a mid-1st in trade) So trading him away from Chicago wouldn't make sense for you.

LaVine can be dealt for something (straight to the Knicks for #8 keeps coming up as an option if you just want an extra lotto pick).

Porter's negative value on his contract given his health issues. So it's tough to see him getting value back unless you're taking on a very big, multi-year bad contract. Since he's not really in the way either there's no push for Chicago to move him anyway.
