Paul poll

Sun up: Phoenix wins, getting the star they've long coveted, a perfect fit for a team on the rise.
6
5%
Thunder rolls: OKC wins, getting out of a massive contract for flippable pieces and a future pick too
51
45%
Sunset flip: both teams win. Phoenix gets their "dollar", OKC gets some nice quarters...and save dollars.
56
50%
Beyond Thunderdome: both teams lose. Suns give up good pieces but take on a huge contract and only get to the middle; Thunder could have at least waited to see if more desperate offers rolled in.

Well well well. I'm pretty sure I was first on this. Didn't have the pick, but....

Also I like this for Phoenix a ton. An absolute ton.

OKC still has more work to do but Presti definitely is stacking assets.

Looks like the trade comes in at just about $5M difference, for anyone counting Phoenix's capspace dollars.

Just seeing it now - I'm guessing OKC flips Rubio to another team. Not a bad trade by either team, imo. Some will say Phoenix overpaid, but they are one team that needed the maturity that Paul brings - rather than the talent that Oubre does.

They might need to move up but Halliburton would be a great fit to learn under CP and he's big enough to be the third guard.

Also I have Windhorst a winner here too. He told us several days ago this was more likely to happen than not which is pretty bold all things considered. He gets a lot of crap, but I definitely have him as one of the more credible guys at this point. Not top tier, but solid.

I assume it is done after free agency. Could be wrong though.

I really like this trade for Pheonix because it's investing in getting their young stars to the next level. They have 2 stars in Booker and Ayton, and some nice complimentary pieces Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges. Add in the #10 pick in the years draft and keep yourself flexible to have a max slot when the CP3 deal expires.

In my opinion, it's a good opportunity cost in trading a pick.

Good deal for both ends. I always enjoy a team putting win-now talent around win-now young players. Windows don't last forever and the Suns are capitalizing on this now.

After years of flailing around it looks like the Suns are finally switching to win-now mode. I like that Phoenix is taking a shot, but adding a pick seems like too much value based on the risk involved with a 35 year old guy making over $40M a year. If Paul can defy time for 2 more seasons this is a win for the Suns, if not this could end up looking really bad.

I think the pick is a BIT much, but worth it if you expect CP3 to help get you to the next level... and I expect him to.

Nice move all the way around.

Do the Thunder keep Oubre/Rubio now or flip them?

Oubre and Rubio are nice gets for CP3. If you look at what hey have added in the past day, they could be better than last season if they keep their players.

Rubio
SGA/Green
Oubre great addition if healthy
Gallinari
Adams

Giving the lack of impactful small forwards and point guards, I do look for Presti to be moving Oubre and Rubio.
