Really solid move for ATL. Dedmon was an overpaid backup center and now they have Okongwu to back up Capela, in adition to Bruno Fernando being a roster-worthy 3rd center and Collins playing some minutes at the 5. So he's not even needed in that role. Snell is an overpaid rotation wing but that's more of a need for them so a better place to invest the money if you're stuck paying it.

I don't really get it for DET. They acquired Bradley from Utah, drafted Stewart at #16 and presumably would like to re-sign Christian Wood. Just looking at their roster, seems they'd have more playing time available on the wing than at center.

I think this nets them some 300k more in space. But have to pay Dedmonds buyout next year. Seems like some type of 2nd should be going to Detroit.

This trade is cap neutral (although they do take on a small guarantee for Dedmon next year IIRC). I think they had about $9M in cap going in to today and will have the same coming out.

I'm with those wondering what's in this for Detroit. Cash or a second or *something*.

Good deal for Atlanta. I am going to look at Snell as a better player than Bembry who was cut lose. Solid bench guy. Khyri does nothing for me and he is the cost of getting Snell.

Maybe this part of a 3 team? What's in it for DET?

If you compare Snell's shooting to Bembry's shooting the upgrade is pretty obvious for the Hawks. They were last in 3PT% last season.
