Cost cuts for the Jazz. A win for them.

Woj has Knicks getting 2 23 2nd round picks. So decent get for them.

edit: did Utah pick one up last night? I don't see them owning anyone's else currently.

I want to say they got one for Detroit for #38. 'future considerations'

so that would either be Portlands or the worse of Cleveland/GSW. Detroit owed their own to the Clippers.

Thanks!

Another power forward Obi Toppin and Julius Randle. Even if we assuming Portis' team option is getting turned down it seems like our current management is trying to get a team full of power forwards again.

Goshdarn it

Options are passed. And yeah, Portis is toast.

My preference was always to trade him plus whatever for a player (Bjelica? Ilyasova?) but given how concerned we have clearly been about the lux tax, this was always the most likely outcome.

Saves the Jazz some money and opens a roster slot. Ed Davis didn't work in Utah. Now both Davis and Bradley have been cleared from the books. Udoka comes in as the 3rd big, and the Jazz will sign a big in FA--e.g., Favors, Portis, Baynes, etc.

Favors may be willing to take the MLE, especially if the Pels trade for Myles Turner.

This is using your cap space to acquire assets.

Jazz and Knicks' front offices are close, btw. You can start to see it.

Portis' option is declined.
Jazz trade Ed Davis.
See if the Jazz now pick up Portis.

I'm sure that Randle will be on the way out soon. He currently is the Ricky Davis to the young coming Knicks squad like the real deal was had he stayed around during LeBron James early years with the Cavs.

This isnt just for you.

When a team is rebuilding, the main goal is to acquire assets.

The Knicks are acquiring assets. Quit complaining.

Like trading the guy we picked at 33 for a second rounder 2 years into the future?

We're going to be the kings of the second round. Look out. :banghead:

Ed Davis is a center, not a power forward, and I assume he gets bought out and signs with a contender.
