Harden to Bucks with Warriors

Post#1 » by Wolveswin » Sat Dec 5, 2020 2:21 pm

Rockets Give: Harden + E. Gordon + McLemore
Rockets Get: Wiseman + Wiggins + DDV + Oubre Jr. + 2021 Wolves 1st + 2021 Warriors 1st (protected 21-30) + whatever future 1sts and swap Rockets can pull from Bucks and Warriors + 9M cap savings

Warriors Give: Wiggins + Wiseman + Oubre Jr. + 2021 Wolves 1st + 2021 1st (protected 21-30) + future 1st and swaps
Warriors Get: Middleton + Holiday + McLemore

Bucks Give: Middleton + Holiday + DDV + Future 1st and swaps
Bucks Get: Harden + Gordon + House Jr.

Rockets get youth + picks for Harden, cap space and dump Gordon. Oubre Jr. can showcase and be traded at deadline for more assets (along with Tucker).
Wiseman | Cousins
Wood | Tucker
Oubre | Wiggins
Wiggins | DDV
Wall

Warriors don’t trade for Harden — I don’t like the fit. Rather they complete what should be a long term perfect fitting lineup.
Looney | Chriss | Green
Green | Paschall
Middleton
Holiday (makes great 6th man when Thompson returns)
Curry

Bucks sell Giannis on landing superstar. If Giannis still bolts, Harden can be flipped for ton of assets.

Pretty sure the Bucks can't trade a FRP.

The Warriors are obviously in here only to facilitate the trade. I like Khris and Jrue, but not enough to surrender three likely starters and all our draft capital for years to get them.

If you want to swap Harden for Giannis, do it in a way that doesn’t require another team to get worse, please.

Now cue up the old “but you’re getting rid of Wiggins” excuse in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

Side note, has anyone else noticed, when the title of the thread is “Team X and Team Y, with Team Z”, or some variation like “Player from Team X to Team Y with Team Z”, it’s usually Team Z that gets shafted in the deal? It’s kind of a dead giveaway that the team was thrown in just to make the rest of the trade work.

Swap Giannis and Harden???

I would like to hear an argument why this isn’t tremendous value for Warriors.

Wiggins + 2021 Wolves 1st = Holiday (and that is being very generous...Holiday is worth more but I will play along).

Middleton easily has 2020 #2 value. Even if one thinks he doesn’t (to a team like Warriors looking to win and win it all and he is perfect fit), Warriors are still winning Holiday part of value. Plus end up with nearly perfect ring roster.

This is terrible for the Warriors, they get shafted completely here. The op doesn’t take any understanding of Golden State in this deal.

While OP is correct that Harden is not a good fit for Warriors, there is no reason for Warriors to pay Harden's package to get Middleton and Holiday. I mean, why in the world Warriors offer that gigantic package to get two borderline 29-30 years old All-stars? Warriors will not touch that deal to begin with, and they will get Harden if they have to make a choice between Harden and Middleton/Holiday.

Coxy, not sure if you remember, but the OP here is the same one who was on our board swearing that the Warriors were going to..... or going to have to..... trade up to #1 to get Wiseman. It appears to be an obsession with the Warriors making unnecessary moves to become worse, or reduce our ceiling.

I mean forget getting rid of Wiggins. You are talking like all starters are the same. Middleton and Jrue are massive upgrades over Wiggins/Oubre. That would be the idea. And if Klay was healthy a deal like this would make a ton of sense as this deal would make the Warriors the team to beat.

Steph Curry likely doesn't have 5 years left at an MVP level. So using some draft capital to upgrade to win titles is a reasonable path even if you wouldn't do it. It's not this ridiculous notion you want to paint it as. The issue with it now is about Klay. Do Middleton/Jrue added to Steph/Draymond make you a favorite over Lebron/AD and the Lakers? No, probably not so I'd hold off.

But it makes the Warriors way better. Way better.

Seems every Warriors trade on here is trade away all future/bridge potential for some moderate improvement that doesn’t make GS a top contender because, apparently Steph Curry has two years before he changes into Ish Smith.

The value on paper isn’t bad but it’s not the Warriors strategy. Same as dumping lotto or potential lotto picks for bench depth as everyone was trying to do for GS at draft time is not the strategy.

The world, nor the NBA, nor the Warriors, nor Steph Curry end in two years. The Warriors plan is to proceed under that belief and that they want to be a good team beyond that time

JRue is a free agent soon and would be a backup to a healthy Klay or Curry.

Middleton would be reserve.

Plus warriors want to get younger

Take out Wiseman, and all of the picks except the Minnesota pick, and that seems like a deal Myers can discuss.

If we are facilitating Harden to the Bucks, then getting an upgrade at the 2 and 3 spots is demanded. The Warriors, being the 3rd wheel here and asked to add all of the extra value to facilitate such a fortuitous trade for the Bucks, should be the team that asks for the most compensation, and not be the door mat in the footnote of history that gifts the Bucks a title. Yes, Middleton and Jrue are an upgrade to Wiggins and Oubre, but from there we get reamed up the behind with adding in further value, which is massive for us in Wiseman and those picks.

No dice. We keep Wiseman and our picks, and the Bucks should thank their lucky stars that we help them pair Giannis and Harden together. If the trade breaks down because Houston want more, then it breaks down.

Middleton would not start over Curry, Healthy Klay , JRue or Green

Ha. So not true. Middleton is better than Holiday. And plays a position of need.

I think GSW would definitely consider this.

In the end they probably pass because all indications point to them looking to find a new group to bridge to the next dynasty while the big 3 phase out.

Values good for GSW. I just think they go in a younger direction.

Looks to be terrible value for the Warriors giving up 3 lotto picks for the best player coming in being an expiring Jrue. I get they're getting out of Wiggins' contract, but that doesn't seem to be a big concern for them anyway.

Can't see how Wiggins, Oubre and Minnesota lottery pick isn't worth an allstar player.

If the Clippers for some reason aren't winning like expected two months into the season they would accept that package for PG.
