Ball for DSJ/2nds
Ill offer this swap between Knicks and Pelicans for:
-Pelicans dont want to pay Ball big $ this off-season, take immediate cap savings to get further under tax threshold if they want to add a piece later in season and get 2 2nds, 1 immediate.
-Knicks bring Ball into mix to give him a greater look to see if he is long term answer at PG
To New Orleans
-Dennis Smith Jr. (1 year, $5.7 million plus Q.O.)
-2021 Charlotte 2nd round pick
-2023 Detroit or Utah 2nd round pick (least favorable)
To New York
-Lonzo Ball (1 year, $11 million plus Q.O.)

As much as I want to move Lonzo, this feels very slightly too light for him.

Well you could make the 2021 2nd Detroit instead of Charlotte which will likely be the 31st pick.

I wouldn't. That's two early second rounders to take a flier on Ball to see if he's worth keeping.

How about
Lonzo Ball
JJ Reddick
for
Evan Fournier (look to extend)
Gary Clark
'21 SRP (via Orlando - unprotected)
PM me if you can help a brotha finally get an AVI.

Didn't the Magic just extend Fultz?

Yes, but I envision a world where Lonzo and Fultz can coexist.
I genuinely believe Lonzo should be playing the 2 predominately long-term and sharing ball handling responsibilities.

Re: Ball for DSJ/2nds
I'd probably give up the Mavs 1st for Lonzo if that got it done, and hope to recoup that draft capital by selling Bullock / Rivers / Burks later in the season.
Getting Elf out of the lineup would help our kids' development & make our tradebait look better.

I think the Pels are gonna be picky about where they send JJ if they move him at all.
I’ve been a fan of Fournier deals to the Pels in the past but I’d personally be more interested other pieces than an expiring vet looking to get paid.
The four biggest needs for the term as I see it are a floor stretching big who protects the rim, a big point who can shoot, switch, and run pick and roll, a big 3/4 who can guard big forwards and a 4/5 we can play in switch heavy crunch time units.
For what it’s worth a trade of Bamba and Gordon gives us two of those 4 things.

Re: Ball for DSJ/2nds
What's happened to Ball this year? Not that he was anything special last year, but he seems worse across the board. Very surprising for a 4th year player in a contract year.

If the Mavs were likely to be a top 4 seed in WC come TD, I could see Knicks being ok dealing DSJ/2021 Mavs 1st for Ball/2021 2nd

Re: Ball for DSJ/2nds
I don't think the Pels ascribe any value to DSJ, so this comes down to the 2nds. For OKC I'm still willing to do George Hill + GS prot 1st (likely MIN 2nd and DEN 2nd). But I think there should be a decent little market to kick the tires on Lonzo even with him impending payday demands.

Personally, I'd rather do it sooner than later. Get Elf back on the shelf ASAP & let's see how our pieces look with a competent PG.
