Vote Wiggins

Willing to consider another player like Horford here, but Wiggins has a long fat contract and has been the same player most of his career

Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential :tooth and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

Vote: Draymond Green - with the league the way it is, its tougher and tougher to get close to 0 pts from the PF position, as the C position doesnt have a ton of scorers either. I dont know what we'd get if we put him on the market, there'd just be so few buyers and that contract is so long. Would also note that if Draymond moved to a team that relied less on defensive switching, you'd be losing a decent chunk of his defensive value as well.

Nominate: Porzingis - we're at the point where its getting harder to nominate players because you are now just assuming a lot of things. Like the ones above: EG - he's a pretty solid player, just overpaid. Ditto Hayward, who's looking very useful but not max-useful. Hield.. I dunno. The stats look good but every time I see him play I just dont know he got them. Wiseman was a cute addition, very hot take, you spicy man you. But I chose Porzingis because of his tanked 3PT% and overall low efficiency. Havent seen him but in passing this year until tonight, but the stats at least paint a picture of someone who's really struggling. If someone really took up for him, I'd believe that over the stats though

EDIT: DEFINITELY Porzingis. He had literally a 9 inch height advantage over our tallest guy tonight and he got 5 rebounds, and stayed on the perimeter a ton. His 3 ball was working but.. I just got such a bad and slow vibe from him. Never saw it coming but man did the Knicks do well on that deal

I also see no pathway for Wiggins to recoup a max deal in his role in GSW. What is he - potential defender, third option who shoots inefficiently? Worse, we have seen him with several different coaches, with several different systems, around youth and around vets (Butler), and with several different roles. We always see the same thing - he plays okay for a little while, then mails in it for weeks at a time. It’s his seventh year - expecting him to suddenly start caring now seems like wishful thinking. He still has a negative BPM in GSW, like he has every season in his career. His lack of effort on both ends of the floor will keep him in his traditional spot near the top of every year’s Worst Contracts list.

One interesting difference. Someone posted FiveThirtyEight’s projections of a fair contract, based on RAPTOR predictions and WARP.

Wiggins five year market value: $36.1

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2021-nba-player-projections/andrew-wiggins/

(It’s fun to look up the other nominees as well, btw)

I understand that I have always leaned towards longer samples than most before I change my view of a player, but I think Wiggins at #5 is already predicting a rosier outcome than we could even expect from the guy.

It pains me to say it but Draymond. He’s worthless most nights without great shooting and trending in the wrong direction. The Warriors are 6-1 when the guy scores 5 or more points. Most games he cant even do that. That said, it looks like Wiggins is being judged based off what he did in Minnesota

Draymond offers defense and playmaking at an elite level, so I can't go with him. Horford looks pretty close do done but can still hit an open three. Blake is completely done. Wiggins doesn't do much to help a team relative to his salary. He's fine in a role as a wing defender and slasher, but he's paid to be a star.
