There is a rumour that Lakers are targeting Whiteside.

What does it take for the Lakers to acquire him?

A 2nd rounder or cash ought to do it. With all due respect to the Kings, he didn't sign there for the minimum because he was worth a ton.

Why would the Lakers be interested?

I suppose he could perform better when motivated, but he’s been unsightly here

I'm guessing a guy that can block shots. It's a bit of a gamble that their culture will run off on him.

Yeah I think Vivek would bite on the cash + a stinky second. If we could possibly get more, it wouldn't be much more.

I don't even think the Lakers have hard cap room right now to take a minimum without sending someone out.

Seems like Whiteside is now a target for the Lakers.

What is the offer? We already own the 2021 Lakers 2nd round pick, their 2nd round for 2022 is already traded.

Lakers fans would riot if they traded THT away.

What kind of offer can they make? Are they just hoping he gets bought out and signs with them?

Totally thats why my question with the thread was what?

They literally don't have any tradeable pieces. If the offer is a 2023 2nd + cash, I have to figure some center needy team can not only beat that but that the Kings would prefer to ship him elsewhere.

Literally the only thing they would trade and that Id want is THT, but I can't imagine Lakers want to move him. GRIII + Whiteside for THT? Still the THT hype is insane with my Lakers friends, no idea how the front office actually feels about him.

I think 2023 SRP + cash is enough. I can't imagine any other team wanting Whiteside enough for an SRP.

If they want more.than an SRP then it won't happen. The negotiation would be what year the Lakers give the SRP.
