The title kills it, Nets aren't going to facilitate an improvement to Boston.

Not sending 3 1sts for vucevic even if they aren’t great picks

I don't see what the Nets are doing here other than acquiring a player that fills a need without giving any value. A different third team would be better.

As to the picks for Vuc, I think that's the type of package from Boston that gets Orlando to really talk about it. I don't think Vuc is crazy valuable, but I don't think any of the young guys in Boston can headline a package for him. They are all kind of underwhelming between Grant, Edwards, Nesmith, Langford they add some value but can't anchor (RW3 might be my exception to this, but he doesnt play enough minutes to truly assess). So it needs to be a volume package. And the picks need to have some variability and chance to be good. I think 21, 23, 25 does that. Maybe top 4 protections on the 2 later picks.

As a Celtics fan I disagree. It's not like the 3 1st rounders are in 3 consecutive years. From the Celtics perspective, this is a solid deal. Have you seen Vucevic play? Dude is a beast..

Brooklyn is just unnecessary here. If Boston will send 3 1sts and a center for Vuc, it'll happen straight up. Theis should be able to fetch a couple 2nds himself (plz send him here), so that's extra value for ORL.

Btw the 1sts aren’t in consecutive years because the cba doesn’t allow them to be-Stepian rule bc of the cavs in 82-85

I actually think it makes sense for the Nets. They are trying to win now, going for it this year. Dinwiddie is out for the year so why not trade him to a team (like Orlando) who has no shot this year but they're building for the future? Orlando doesn't care if Dinwiddie is out for the year, they can use him next year and year after as a good young player as part of their rebuild.

Dinwiddie won't help the Nets title chances this year - they flip him for 2 guys who will. The Nets have plenty of offense, Theis gives them a guy who is content to set screens, do the dirty work and play some D.

Celtics won't need Theis anymore if they get Vucevic.

And bringing in Dinwiddie makes the package more appealing to Orlando since he's a more proven player so it's not like they lose Vucevic and all they get is unproven young players and picks.

The deal makes sense all around - I'm just not sure the small improvement the Nets are making is worth it, knowing their taking part in a major improvement for the Celtics..
