A good trade deadline reminder that late 1sts aren't necessarily that valuable.

I like this. Free pickup, but in my effort to free up cap for Holmes, this probably means Barnes or Buddy has to be on the move. Unless we decide to ship Holmes off.

I came here to post this and there were already two threads on it. We are all so starved for real trades.

I like it less for the Kings now hearing they are likely not getting a second out of it. But hard to get too upset about this kind of move.

I don’t see why. Kabengele is an UFA. It doesn’t affect the Holmes situation whatsoever.

This is either gathering a young piece for a bigger deal or definite evidence that Bagley is gone.

I think this is a flyer and has nothing to do with the rest of the roster. The Kings bench is starved for talent.

Re: [Woj] Kabengele to the Kings
no-brainer for the Kings. This is the kind of trade the Hornets should've been seeking out, it's a free 2nd and a free look at a possible(?) rotation center in the future

This is more room under the hard cap so a clear win for the Clippers. I don't mind the Kings taking a flier since the Clippers are paying the salary so it's at least not a loss for the Kings.

Re: [Woj] Kabengele to the Kings
Kabengele is one of those guys who, having their option declined, actually means having him now means less ability to offer a contract for the Kings. That said, I don't see him getting more than 2.1m next year, so not a real issue.
Assuming they got enough cash to cover it, I have it a good deal for both.
I will also say, the TPE was large enough to cover Poirier's 2.6m, so unless Philly uses Poirier to aggregate they missed out on a potential salary dump location (for now).

This is getting paid by another team to evaluate someone for the remainder of the season. That’s all. Clippers were probably set to ask any team that could if they’d be interested. Kings just said sure.

I think it's just big man depth with Bagley and Metu out.

Idk why I never realized that he had his options declined. Well I like this even more now.Pelon chingon wrote:RipPizzaGuy wrote:I like this. Free pickup, but in my effort to free up cap for Holmes, this probably means Barnes or Buddy has to be on the move. Unless we decide to ship Holmes off.

I've been echoing this for years. I always prefer even a decent young role player and always get told they are trash and we need MOAR 1STS!Texas Chuck wrote:BullyKing wrote:A good trade deadline reminder that late 1sts aren't necessarily that valuable.

This right here.
There are two or three franchises that regularly score on late first round picks.

I agree with you and as crazy as it sounds, I actually think the Sixers are one of those teams. Thybulle, Maxey and Shamet all look like hits to varying degrees. But they all seem like rotation players and that's a win at that stage of the draft.

Re: [Woj] Kabengele to the Kings
Called this one, but thought it would be for Whiteside and not nothing. Either way, Clips now have two roster slots and are about $3M under the hard cap now, if I'm not mistaken, nearly enough to use the BAE, or most of it
