What a deal for Toronto... I'm super high on Gary Trent Jr. Great move

Such an interesting move. I really like Powell in Portland, but doesn’t it seem like Trent is the better fit?

WOW!! Not expected at all
Good move by both teams. But I thought the Raps were moving Powell because they couldnt afford to resign? Can they afford Trent?

This deadline is wild. Teams coming way down off their prices.

I don't know if I like this for Portland. I like GTJr, Powell is not bad either, so I guess it's ok.

Exactly.. I didnt buy that excuse then, definitely dont now. Trent is a sniper and I think that's what Ujiri wanted. They're so valuable.. but now they have to complete the deal by extending Trent. And I have to wonder what that will cost. That really should factor into evaluating this deal.

RFA rights vs UFA rights
Didn't realize Powell was UFA, but I guess thats right cuz he already signed an extension awhile ago.
So this is a rental for Portland then?

Gets more cap space in offseason, then re-sign trent for over the cap. Makes sense if masai wants to retool and not rebuild

This is odd. Is Portland gonna re-sign Powell?

Blazers under the minimum players, so a signing or gillie up trade will be coming. Also, they save immediate money, so should be able to go a little over minimum now to sign somebody and stay under the tax.

LOL Pre-cursor to a CJ trade? Many POR fans hope for that

Trent isn’t going to be much cheaper for TOR to re-sign than Powell would’ve been. And Powell is better offensively and Hood is dead money. Portland win.

Nice trade for Toronto. I don't understand it for Portland for its almost certainly a rental given he's
a UFA.
a UFA.

Portland doesn't have 16 shots to go around to Powell coming off the bench. Portland also has desperate need for SF/PF/C starters. Very unlikely to resign him after this year. They're punting youth for a rental in a season that already looks dismal. Terrible trade, from a Portland fan perspective.
