Raptors get WAY too good of a deal here. Nuggets would hang up immediately.

I have no interest for Philly to give up anything for Lowry, honestly. Let Tampa/Toronto pay him one last time.

Do nuggets wait until the 2022 off-season after Murray returns if they're putting him on the market?

It depends on what the price is. A team would be taking the the risk to pick up a potential superstar player after a season, and likely pick up a higher draft pick if they have their 2022 1st.

He is owed 140M for next 4 years. Nobody is paying Murray 140M for 3 years of produciton when he havent even made an allstar game. You know players may also take a (big) step back from acl recovery too right? this is a huuuuuge risk to take and one i want no part of.

Just from an Indy perspective, the Pacers absolutely wouldn’t consider a deal like this, where they get worse on the court, and only get a lotto protected 1st in 2023 as the consideration for it. Also, important to keep in mind, while George Hill is from Indy, his stint here ended poorly with burnt bridges. Not sure that one is being re-built and crossed again. But we also don’t have much of a need for him with Edmond Sumner looking like he’s ready to take that role of defensive combo guard with a 3 point shot.

We already potentially have 3 2nds in this draft. A 4th isn’t terribly interesting. And, we have a good amount of future 2nds such that the 2023 2nd isn’t much of anything at all.

OG > Murray in trade value. Murray is owed 140M for 3 years of basketball. OG is owed 54M.

Murray is owed $130m for the next 4 years of basketball. Quite different from $140m over 3. OG is owed $52m for the next 3, with a player option on the 4th.

Can also look at it as Jamal Murray was regarded by the market as a better player and received a higher contract offer as such. :dontknow:

I love OG, but really, the question is offense or defense and guard or wing. Hypothetically, If you told me that those two teams swapped OG/Filler for Murray, I wouldn’t be surprised at the valuation. Even with the contracts and injuries, etc.

One of those year he will be sidelined due to his ACL and not playing at all, hence 140M for 3 years of basketball. Jamal murray pre acl tear received this higher contract. No way he would get anything near that contract now. Conversely, OG is actually getting better and making his contract more of a steal

How could it be $140m for 3 years of basketball if he’s only owed $130m total for the next 4 years? Is there an additional $10m penalty?

Wasn't he guaranteed 170M and was paid ~30M this year, hence 140M remaining?

That’s not what Basketball Insiders or Keith Smith are showing. They’re showing about $130m total for the entirety of his next 4 years.

Spotrac shows it having been a 5/$158m deal. He had kickers for if he made an All-NBA team and was eligible for up to 30%, but he didn’t make an All-NBA last year.

All the media outlets reported it as a 5 year 170M back in 2019 though.

EDIT: nevermind i know why now, covid decreased the cap from 117 to 109M so his contract got cut.

Don't see Toronto doing this, look I wish Murray all the best but that's a lot to take on right now and hope he gets back to form. Your basically a bad team with Turner and this group minus the pieces going out. Like maybe a top five worst team in the league. At best what is the ceiling for that Raptors team with Murray plus Turner?

Yeah Scoot’s on the salary-cap like a brilliant cpa.
