Sato/Thad/2 2nds for Rubio/Culver

Culver is an extra piece in Minny, with Edwards and Beasley there. DLo needs to start as well-Sato is a decent backup. TYoung would start and be a great influence on Towns and the young guys. Plus, Sato and Young have great chemistry

Bulls need a playmaker in Rubio. If they resign Lauri they go with
Rubio/White/Archie
Lavine/White/Culver
Williams/Brown/Culver
Theis/Lauri/Williams
Vuc/Theis/Lauri/Simonovic

That should be a .500 team-and could be more if Williams blows up.

I'm fine with that for the wolves. I dont see how culver gets minutes here unless two of
okogie, beasley, or nowell get moved.

Last time Thad was in Minny it did not go well...there were personal reasons behind it but his getting out proved best for all involved. Hopefully that's all water under the bridge, but I'd want to be sure before sending him there again.

I dunno if this moves the needle enough for me to trade Ricky. And I get it, he’s Ricky Rubio his value is only so high. It’s just that he seems to be a mentor to Edwards right now and if Rubio has Ant’s ear I think that can only mean good things for the rookie’s future. TBH - I’d like to re-sign Ricky.

Also, as loser pointed out Thad did not want to be in MN last time and kinda played like it. I don’t think I’d personally want him back on the team.

I agree that Rubio/Culver can be moved. But, get something positive for them not a negative package like this.

I'm not a fan of Thad Young, he was really bad in his previous half season with the Wolves and I have no interest in a repeat performance.

My best guess is that if the wolves keep their pick this year it means that Rubio will be moved in a deal to save cap space. If the Wolves lose their pick, I see Beasley as the most likely guy to get traded in order to balance the roster (since he has the most value).

I know Thad had a bad run, but he's been great this year with the Bulls (although overworked). He and Sato might be great vet leaders-who can replace what Rubio provides. I think Young could start at the 4 for a year-his passing and post game would help Towns
But, I can also see Minny saying no

The value isn't bad on paper, I just think the Wolves would say no because of the relationship Rubio has formed with Edwards.

I agree with the others. If Rosas prioritizes Anthony Edwards development, Rubio may stick (and Beasley will likely be traded). Right now, Russell comes off the bench and closes games, but the message we always hear is that Russell will eventually be the starting PG. In the beginning of the season, DLo wanted the ball in his hands, and Ryan Saunders complied, pushing Rubio out of the starting line up for the first time in his life. Right now, DLo is doing well as the SG with the second unit, with Jordan McLaughlin (competent, not special) as the PG. My hope next year is that Rubio starts and Russell gets comfortable this time playing SG alongside him. I still think it can work, with Ricky a much better defender and willing passer (Beasley is neither), but DLo has to be willing.

I am a fan of many parts of the rest of this trade. If Rubio is traded:

1. I think CHI is the best destination for both teams
2. Sato as part of the deal makes sense for both teams
3. I think Jarrett Culver needs a fresh start.

I’d prefer a three-teamer that sends him to a Texas team or OKC. Word is he has been injured all year, and now he’s having surgery to fix it. I don’t know if that’s the reason for his poor play (I think he’s homesick), but he seems to me like a decent upside play for a team with the space, if he can fix his shot. He’s a good kid, defends, has a handle, has length, and is a very hard worker. He just needs to get out of his own head when he misses a shot, and I don’t think that will change in MIN,

4. No opinion on Thad, but the Bulls have other things that MIN could use, like a little cap space to get under the lux.

I like Thad and cant remember why the last time in MN didnt work out. That said I see him more as a tweener forward and not the interior defender/rebounder that MN needs.

I just looked for some articles regarding Young. It was 2014 and the core of the team was KMart, Rubio, Pek (all of whom were injured for more than half of the year) and rookies Wiggins (good) and LaVine (horrible at the time - ironic isn't it?).

Basically, it turns out, Young was simply not a #1 option with all our injuries and not strong enough to play the 4 without a real bruiser in the front court (Pek). He also had just lost his mother, so that must have been a terrible situation for him as well (much like KAT, Rubio & Ant) In the end he was the salary needed to bring home KG, so no one really cared when he left. While he wasn't successful here, it's not like he demanded a trade, or was a locker room cancer. I wouldn't mind bringing him back.
