Feel free to create your own as well, but I feel like throwing out a series where we throw out some ideas that aren't real, but just for fun we can kick it around.

I'll continue with this news report after the 2020-21 Season...

After disappointing post-season, the Denver Nuggets have decided to shop Michael Porter Jr. for the best immediate upgrade possible.

Without throwing in Jokic or Murray, who is the best fitting veteran player they can get?

I feel like they have to kick the tires on a Beal trade, but I also wonder if they couldn’t do something with Toronto (maybe OG and FVV)

If Jokic and Murray are staying, and presumably Aaron Gordon also, then the sensible target is a wing.

What makes this difficult is it's hard to know which veterans will be available for prospects unless we know which other teams flamed out in the playoffs. If the Wizards decide to relinquish their hold on Beal, that's a nice fit. McCollum might be, but would Denver give up Porter Jr. for that? There's always DeRozan but MPJ wouldn't be on the table for him either.

If they're keeping Jokic/Murray/Gordon, even matching salary for a big gun is going to be tough unless they can convince Barton to either opt in or accept an S&T.

Porter Jr could be better than Beal by next year.

I'd offer up at least Wiseman and the Minnesota 2021 pick. Don't think that gets it done for Denver. I assume if they trade Porter, it's for win now pieces.

I've wanted to see Barnes in Denver for awhile. Just seems like a great fit. Obviously he isn't worth MPJ, but maybe in a 3 way trade?

Nugs won’t

MpJ is “win now” now. So now if Mpj was traded it’s for multiple or future pieces

Before this years kind of step up the possible MpJ trade targets that made sense were lavine, or Beal or that type.

MpJ for sga, Dort, and a pick ?

MpJ for Steph Curry ?

Very confused by this?

I like MPJ. Maybe hes worth SGA? But I still have SGA worth more alone, let alone adding Dort + A pick.

Steph Curry? You are going to need to add significantly more.

I am not sure the Hawks would do it because quite honestly Hunter brings a lot more on the defensive end. Hunter for MPJ is a thought. Not one I am a fan of though. I wonder if Collins for MPJ could be worked out in a SNT somehow?

Collins for MPJ isn't close at all.

This is a weird one to make all the pieces line up. Denver would be targeting a wing, but there’s probably a dozen wings in the league at most who represent enough of an upgrade to move MPJ, and the majority of them aren’t available at any price. Then you have the salary matching issue.

One totally off the wall idea: Murray + MPJ for Ben Simmons and Seth Curry

I think its close but the money will throw it off. I like Collins versatility to play small ball center and power forward a lot. He can cause some mismatch problems if coached correctly. McMillan is using him a lot in this way.

I liken MPJ to a bigger Ingram. Both will have to be surrounded by good to great defensive players. But as McMillan has done in Atlanta, defensive improvements in schemes can help a lot also. The Hawks have improved from 28th last season to 16th in defensive rating once McMillan took over ( 03/31 to present ).

It really isn’t close. Collins is a very nice player but MPJ’s combination of offensive volume and efficiency at his size is unicorn-level, and he’s still getting better.

MPJ is nothing like Ingram. MPJ is a tremendous shooter and scorer and works off-ball a great deal more than Ingram.

I would put Ingram ahead of Collins as well, MPJ is similar to SGA in terms of value rather than Collins.

As much as McMillan is using Collins, he is still only +1.5 On court rating since McMillan became headcoach while Capela is +8.0 on court in that time. Collins is a fine player but not close to MPJ--no matter how you slice it.

If OKC lands Cade or Suggs in the lottery, SGA for MPJ is something I could see both teams at least considering.

No. SGA is simply better than MPJ. Same age, SGA creates for others, SGA plays defense, SGA doesnt have the open looks Jokic creates and is still similar in efficiency.

MPJ is perfect for Denver, he is an ideal off ball scorer to Jokic, but SGA has #1 option potential, I just dont see that in MPJ.

Why would the Nugs consider this? Unless a lot added

Funny, we’ve got one guy saying Denver needs to add a lot and another saying OKC needs to add a lot.

I think SGA has the edge for now but I don’t think it’s inconceivable that MPJ ends up being the better player.
