Eliminated: GSW is out, knee-jerk trades & solutions

Post#1 » by Foshan » Sat May 22, 2021 3:59 am

So i thought this could be fun as each team gets knocked out. Especially at a time in which fans of said eliminated teams are thinking very clearly :D

To be honest, wasn't expecting this one so soon

So where does Golden State go from here?

Getting the obvious out of the way here: something about Wood for Wiseman+

I propose Wiseman and 14 for Wood and 24

Get players better than Mulder and Bazemore. Shouldn't be difficult but we obviously couldn't do it this past year.

Either go all in or break it up.

You simply can’t surround Curry with marginal NBA players at best and hope for anything more than what they got.

Klay will help a ton, but they have some many meh nba players getting big rotation minutes

Those are end-of-the-bench rotation players, who had to play big minutes. Tends to happen when you have almost 60 million of your salary cap sitting on the sidelines injured :-?

They absolutely should've traded the second overall pick. Wasting a season of prime steph and good draymond is bad even with Klay being out. If they keep the wolves pick too this year they would be better off just trading steph. Plus they just owe it to him to put the best team possible out there.
They could've done it

Ic, so the key to success is for Klay and Wiseman to be healthy? Great. /thread

Reality is, we have 6 rotation quality players (7 if Klay is back). We need 9-10. With guys like Bazemore / Lee 11th and 12th man in case of injuries. What we started the year with was 4 quality players and we were able to find/develop 2 guys.

Traded it for what? Nobody wanted it. It wasn't a highly coveted pick. If you want to say they shouldve drafted LaMelo or Haliburton I can buy that hindsight, but the #2 pick wasn't coveted in last year's draft. Takes two to tango.

Wiggins and rookies should be enough. No need for a trade.

(Sarcasm, with a bit of a shot at GS fans here but done in a good natured way I hope, hell I’m a Kings fan what do I know about winning...I know they need to make a trade...ok that was another minor shot but again in good spirts lol).

If you have an opportunity to trade for a guy like Beal, you do it. Otherwise draft BPA and see how Klay looks. How Klay looks should really inform which direction they go in. It no longer seems unthinkable that they'd trade Curry.

No quick fix for Warriors less likely to trade for sub all star players. They are treadmill level so picks are more valuable

I am fully aware that we need to do some moves on top of Klay coming back healthy. Maybe this includes Wiseman too, let's see what's on the table.

But I said it many months ago: you are not winning anything with a max player being out the entire season. A few better role players might have gotten the team to win 1-2 games in the PO first round, but does this really matter?

The next season counts. However, I don't see the point of throwing obvious end-of-the-bench players under the bus for the outcome of this season.

Bazemore and Mulder are okay options to have for roster spots 12-15. That's what they are.

Win lotto, draft Cade, duh.

Realistically, hope Klay comes back healthy, look to move Wiseman/picks for help next season (though I really like Barnes with that Min pick). Probably let Oubre walk. I’d look to bring back Bazemore on the cheap.

Steph/Poole
Klay/Lee
Wiggins/Bazemore
Dray/JTA
Looney

Look to be playable guys, if the can find a star with the young assets or even just a pair of solid starter I feel pretty decent. Obviously need another big for the RS at least if Wiseman is moved.
I bought a boat.

Playoffs matter for experience. Jordan Bell had the 4th most playoff games played on our end of the year roster.
If its obvious they should get better players how is that throwing them under the bus?

I think this is their plan. Maybe Beal is the target, maybe not. But I think their plan is to draft and develop until a star is available. Not sure if that's the best way to go about it, but pretty sure that's what they're doing. Would like to see us move #14 ( :( ) for a solid vet player, but don't think we have the filler salary to make that happen.

You need to move Wiggins for a player who can better play in their read and react offense and costs less.

Read your first comment again. You said they failed to get better players. They had better players. At least some are clearly better (Klay, Oubre), while Wiseman certainly projects to be better. But they were injured and not available.

That has nothing to do with Bazemore or Mulder. There is still a salary cap. As said multiple times, those guys are okay for the salary they get and the roster position they were planned for.
