Starting this off with some obvious ones:

Richardson either opts out and Dallas does not attempt to re-sign or he opts in and Dallas works with him on a trade.

KP exits someway somehow.

Another offensive creator comes in. Cannot be just The Luka Show

Feel like if Dallas could undue the Curry trade they would. The margin of error is small given salary obligations to Porzingis and the pressure to stay competitive. Luka is carrying too much weight (no pun intended).

Maybe someone will look at the stat sheet and think KP is back and we can move on from him..

I'm convinced they will be able to move on from him. The question is will it feel like a real solution or just a different set of problems.

No question that trade worked out far better for Philly. My biggest crow eating of the year because I spent 6 months or pushing for that exact deal only I was willing to add incentives from Dallas when in reality they got a small incentive. I did not see him failing this bad, but after Wright did I do think we need to stop thinking about limited offense, defensive minded guards around Luka.

He's gonna opt out, right? The standard MLE is pretty close to his option amount.

I still say Kemba is a better fit on Dallas. Porzingis for Kemba. Have to target a team with high expectations and unmovable contracts. Dallas needs ballhandling in the worst way and Kemba would be a solid secondary handler. He's also an off-ball threat and will need cleaner looks now that he can't attack the rim on bad knees. But Luka can get him those looks.

1. KP for Hayward. Maybe Dallas can get some incentive due to the age difference, a Josh Green and #11 swap perhaps? So KP/Green for Hayward/11?
2.Hope Cleveland gets Mobley in the draft making them less willingly to match an offer to Jafro.
3. Let J Rich walk
4. Get Luka a FT shooting coach

Well, curry wasnt that great today either when philly lost home against hawks.

Pretty much impossible to do anything in this thread before we know what jrich decision is. If he opts in, we cant really do anything. If he opts out, we got some options, but nothing that reshapes the whole team.

Best way forward is to get in on some NY trade, hate to lose him but give up like brunson in that trade to get the 23 1st back which would open up options.

Atm, we are kinda locked. I dont mind rolling back the same team if the other option is to land 1 of those normally mentioned retirement players. No kemba, no horford, no adams, no bloody bledso. We got our own pick next year, would rather just get the rookies burn and see how it looks at the tradeline then lock up cap on ****

I have to think so yeah. Worth losing $1M or whatever it is to choose your own destination. Assuming his market is limited to the MLE, but that feels safe at this point.

Dallas have no good or bad news - they have really good news and really bad news only: 1. They have Luka 2. There is no way of surrounding him with a championship caliber roster.

1. Hornets are not shopping Hayward
2. Hornets need a boss at the 5 not a marshmallow.

Sure but does Boston want that extra year of guaranteed salary? Not sure they do

Edit: nvm thought kemba only had two years left, now I don't like it for Dallas lol

And how mavs gonna pay him 40m? Its 10m more the KP makes, he is injured as much but instead of actual injuries, he got degenarate knees and is 5 years older. Oh, and he is 6 feet and cant play defense. He is an overpayed trey burke, and we already got the cheaper version

They don't have many options with Kemba. They could wait out the contract. I don't think they will.

Here is my out of the box KP destination I have been saving for when Dallas went out.

KP to Brooklyn for Jordan/Dinwiddie S&T. With Dallas probably trying to get Jordan routed to a 3rd team. Brooklyn just keeps throwing money at talent and Dallas gets a secondary playmaker. I'm not a huge fan of Dinwiddie and don't think he shoots it well enough to play with Luka. But there ya go.

This isn't particularly helpful but it's wild they got to the "we're low on assets and avenues to improve" stage before Luka even got off his rookie deal. Big part of it is this FA class ended up being a huge dud, but man.
