Jazz/GS fan, I'd switch Wiggins/Paschall here. Risk is low to lose Wiggins, but it'd be disaster if we did. Paschall... doesn't matter much either way to me.

I think that’s what GS management would do TBH, especially since it would be a public display of confidence (or lack thereof) in Wiggins. Probably more realistic if I switch the two (and I agree that I think Paschall would be the odd man out rather than Looney)

If nobody else wants to represent Portland, I'll be Portland

Portland protected list

Lillard
CJ
Simons
Nurkic
Collins
Covington
DJJ
Little

Norman Powell has a player option to become an UFA which most on Portland's board think he will opt out. If for
some reason he opts in, move DJJ to the unprotected list

Melo, Kanter, RHJ, Giles, Leaf, Blevins are all UFA

Portland's only unprotected player is the other CJ, CJ Elleby

Would it be against tampering rules to get the expansion team to claim someone so you could trade for said player?

So..Houston convinces Seattle to take Player X in the expansion draft by promising to trade something of value for him later?

I think this is ok, I believe K chile was asking whether say Clippers could ask Sonics to claim Kemba and then agree to trade for him, which I'm not sure is allowed

It’s a gray area but I don’t think it’s strictly tampering because Kemba isn’t under contract with Seattle. I could see how it might be considered a violation of the spirit of the tampering rules though (and I think there’s a catch all provision in the CBA to that effect)

I guess my question is why they wouldn’t just deal with Boston directly.

Honestly think the Blazers would leave DJJ unprotected in the hopes of getting out of his contract in order to have the money to resign Powell.

I think however DJJ will be a useful salary in any trade discussions. No question DJJ would be unprotected if for some
reason, Powell opts in.

Well one reason is a win now team like Boston would likely want a different trade package than an expansion team who probably could care less what players they get, only the assets they could pull.

Exactly, my bad idea was get them to take Wiggins and send Wall with some stuff for Wiggins, since the rockets now have Cade in this exercise and would want he and KPJ to have the ball as much as possible

Edit: though I just realized this would be essentially the same for Seattle as just taking on wall for assets, so that's the kind of asset price they should be asking for, so nevermind, this was a particularly bad idea even for me lol

It is! Cleveland had Charlotte pick Sasha Pavlovic from the Jazz in the expansion draft. Cleveland offered a first round pick (became Jared Dudley) for them to do it.

It doesn't look like any Memphis posters yet, here is what I would do:

Protected
1) Ja
2) JJJ
3) Brooks
4) Anderson
5) Val
6) Melton
7) Clarke
8) Bane

Available

1) Allen
2) Jones
3) Konchar
4) Tilman
5) Porter

Tilman seems like a easy pick for the expansion team, almost protected him over Clarke.

Indy:

Protected
Domas
Myles
Brogdon
LeVert
Warren
Brissett
Goga
Sumner

Unprotected
Justin Holiday
Aaron Holiday
Lamb
Cassius Stanley (RFA)
Kelan Martin

We're losing a guy, likely one of the Holidays. Too many ok players/prospects on the team.

That’s rough. Surprised to see Justin on the list over Sumner/Brissett

Yeah it could be a toss up. Both Sumner and Brissett are super cheap though and showed flashes. If either are unprotected, I'd expect them to be picked. Justin might not, though he'd be a good vet wing for the first 2 years of the new franchise. My guess would be we lose Aaron here and he's the one that has the least defined role forward for us.

Grizzlies are lucky Sonics can only pick one of those players, Allen would be a good pick up too
