Miami Heat go for it now, Pacers get younger

So the idea is that Miami wants to maximize Butler's prime, and Indy realize they're not contending with this core and gets some young prospects while dumping Turner which they wanted to do for a while.

Heat trade : Dragic (team option, last year) + Iguodala (team option, last year) + Tyler Herro (rookie deal) + Precious Achiuwa (rookie deal)

Pacers trade : Brogdon + M. Turner.

Miami gets a well balanced starting 5, even if lacking a true superstar.

Indy gets off Turner who's not a good match next to Sabonis, Clears a lot of money, get 2 good prospects on rookie deals and can readjust the roster.

Is value fair? who sais no?

This is a trade that had it been proposed at the end of last season, people (Maybe Pacers fans) would be on board--except Miami Fans would have wanted more for the future superstar in Tyler Herro.

As it stands, there is no reason to think Tyler Herro will ever be as good as Malcolm Brogdon.

This deal is missing a couple of 1st round picks.

Turner is a better option next to Bam? Why?

Herro + Achiuwa + expriring don't get one of these guys, let alone the 2.

I "sais" no! You people use as justification that Turner can't play with Sabonis but somehow he's good to go with Bam? Brogdon is worth more than this alone.

I don't think Herro even had this kind of value last year

As mentioned by various posters above, that package isn't even enough for one of Brogdon or Turner, let alone both

Value is way off here

But beyond that, even the direction is off as well. Pacers don't need or want to "get younger". And if Pacers trade Turner, they will need at least starting quality 4 in return, which is absent in this deal

While I agree with others, this isn’t nearly enough for Indy to give up BOTH Myles and Brogdon, I would disagree with some here and say that, realistically, a Herro/Achiuwa package could net probably one or the other, or at least is within reach of netting them. I’m not willing to write off Herro completely. But, say Dragic would be willing to report and play, if you offered me Dragic, Herro, and Achiuwa for Turner and Lamb, I’d have to consider that.

I don't think we'd be willing to take Lamb but I'd consider that trade as well as a Heat fan.

The OP just isn't enough value going to Indy.

Realistically, you’d have to take Lamb, as without, we’d go into the tax. But he’d be somewhat useful as an offensive wing off the bench, and an expiring one you could still use in another trade. Maybe it requires a 3rd team that gives you someone else you’d prefer.

Oof...this is awful for the Pacers. Really, really, awful.

Why would the Pacers want/need Dragic when they already have Brogdon and likely TJ McConnell

Herro's regression and reported infatuation with his celebrity status triggers all sorts of warning bells, and I'm not even sure Achiuwa is going to be a better player than Brissett

There is nothing here for the Pacers

You’d want Dragic as a steady veteran hand, and you just wouldn’t bring back McConnell. But mostly, expiring contract.

And yes, there’d have to be some belief in Herro. Is he garbage? No. Infatuation with celebrity? Maybe. But he’s still got 2 years of his rookie contract and then most likely a 3-4 year extension after that.

Is Precious a made man? Not yet. Is he better than Brissett at this moment? Maybe not. But he has potential to be a really good young 4 man. This kind of deal would require a bit of investment in potential, but it’s very much like a PG for Oladipo/Sabonis type swap.

I’m not willing to write off either young guy yet. I’m not saying they’re stars, but they’re clearly not garbage either. There’s clearly a lot here for the Pacers if they were willing to consider this type of move. It requires projection, and developing potential, but there’s at least usable pieces there.

I think if you don't understand why Turner would fit much better with Bam than Sabonis then I can only assume you care about one side of the game.

Too many players coming North and too few going South. Unless other teams outbid us for the two Mc's, we don't have the roster spots for this.

Sent from my phone.

I think Herro + Precious for one of these guys is a great move for both teams.

Herro still has value and potential. He is immature, young, confident and talented. I think with a few years to mature he can be a legit 3rd option on a deep playoff team. The pendulum has swung too far the other way since his bubble/playoff performance in 2020.
