It's technically not over, but it's over.

So where does Utah go from here?

Fire the coach, deal Gobert for pennies, get a real point guard that isn't injury prone, burn the house down.

Change the rules so the best defender in the NBA can actually impact the game.

Gobert is hands down the most impactful defender in basketball.. Until a team goes small in the playoffs and he's almost completely neutralized. Idk if trading him is the answer, doubt it is because other teams watch the playoffs too and seeding does matter, but it's tough to work around.

I'm REALLY curious to see if the new owner is going to shell out the big bucks to keep Conley after this

Is there any way Utah can trade for Lillard?

Based on the GB, trade Gobert for Porzingis.

If you are Conley, why even come back? The Jazz were great this season, but he's going to be 34 and next year with teams having a real offseason to rest, it's going to be harder for Utah to win. I half expect to see him on the Clippers next year.

Utah is probably going to offer 2 years at $20 million per. That's $40 million. If he can get 3 years at the MLE he is missing out on something like $15 million, which is a lot, but he has made a TON in his career.

I think even if he doesn't get that deal elsewhere he would not be happy about that being their offer I would think. More I think about it the more I think he's gone but idk how deep new guys pockets run

I don't think he's worth more than that. He's available for like 60 percent of games and he's like the 10th best point guard in the league on a good day. I mean, he's a really good player, I love him, I love what he brought to the team, but it doesn't make sense for him to come back, in my opinion.

They also desperately need point of attack defense. Part of what made Gobert look bad is that the only perimeter guy that wasn't a turnstile was O'Neal

O'neale is generally really good as a perimeter defender, but I agree we need more. We also need someone who can come off the bench and play small-ball five. We can make things work with Rudy just fine (granted he won't be *as* impactful), but Favors is a complete liability with that style of play.

Bojan had weird iso flashes on Kawhi, but got left behind on any picks. I was surprised we didn't see more of him taking the ballhandler tonight.

Anywho, I don't expect I'll come away happy from the squads offseason this year, seems set up for rash decisions.

I really like Nance for them.

Nance to Utah
#30, 2023 pick swap, Culver to Cleveland
Favors to Minny
???

A first round pick and a pick swap + Favors for Nance is just brutal. I like him, but I can't imagine surrendering that kind of value. I think more realistically you could build a three team trade where Favors goes into someone's cap-space and Utah sends 30 for Nance if they want him, but nothing more than that.

Not sure how the rest of it goes but Gobert to SAS for Poeltl. Think plucking a few guys off the Spurs roster (what is left of it) and getting a future first would make this make some sense, particularly if that creates some cap flexibility to fill the roster.
