So i thought this could be fun as each team gets knocked out. Especially at a time in which fans of said eliminated teams are thinking very clearly :D

So where does Atlanta go from here?

To start they need to celebrate the season that just ended for them. Just props to the team for ultimately getting further than I think anyone expected.

Go on from there, they seem to be "pretty good" everywhere at minimum but have some spots that just need to be a little better to feel like they're real contenders. Saying that, that's a tough step.

But for right now take a deep breath and enjoy the season they just had. In a league that seems more and more title or bust they just should have had a blast as a fanbase and shown sometimes there's value elsewhere too.

Edit: One thing I will say, after celebrating this season, don't do the thing other recent conference finalists have done and decide this is it and overpay everyone in sight to continue. They did still have a little good fortune and need improvements to get to real contender status I think, but we've seen teams like Portland decide to just overpay their guys after this sort of success and it bites them down the road.

I’m not a Hawks fan, but I definitely don’t think they need to pay John Collins a max contract. Here’s my suggestion:

Hawks out - John Collins (sign and trade)
Spurs out - #12 pick, Luka Saminic

Hawks get a lottery pick (to perhaps use on Kai Jones) and a young power forward who I think, with minutes could end up being good.

Spurs get a guy they are enamored with and a nice TPE.

Trade Gallo and resigned Lou Will for players more aligned with the core in age

Just let the team they got keep developing and hope Trae Young doesn't trip on a ref again.

It’s going to be massively difficult to find adequate playing time for Collins, Okongwu, Hunter, Reddish, Bogdan, Huerter, etc…. I know they’ve had tons of injuries, but I think at some point they’ve gotta see what they have already on the roster by letting the vets (Gallo and Lou) go. Lou is pretty easy, you just don’t re-sign him.

I think you see if a team would simply take Gallo into their cap space as moving him opens up more playing time for the younger guys.

With their draft pick, take a guy like Springer , Ayo, Butler (if he’s healthy).

I think you match Collins by the way.

hI think something where John Collins winds up in Portland would be the best fit. Covington is an EC but a good player, positive value if traded. They could also take back the other collins and his bum foot, 3 year deal only 1st year guaranteed. JCollins at Max should make Lillard feel a little better meanwhile Hawks get a good role player who if they extend will have a more reasonable salary, and if their bench is ahead of schedule, they can move him at the deadline for other assets.

The John Collins RFA is going to be a tough decision.

I think Spurs will throw a lot at him.

Trade Bogi to the Kings for nothing. That’s only fair.

Resign Collins, look for tweaks to the bench, and stay the course.

They’re ahead of schedule.

I think this is accurate. Got to keep Collins and work it out from there.

If they really want to make a splash, package Gallo and some of the young guys together for a star. They have the pieces to get it done and don't think the big fella won't pull the trigger on it.

Going by priority/time to cross that bridge.

1. Resign Collins, but also explore snt deals that makes sense.

2. Schlenk has gotten great value with the mid 1st he's been given. There are guards galore that are capable of taking the place of Lou, and/or compliment Trae in the backcourt. It's Springer, Butler, or Mann for me. They have value of being a combo guard which is ideal for this team.

3. Huerter is due an extension by next offseason. I mean his value is at an all time high, but very volatile. If he accepts 60/4, get that done. Edit: Reddish ascended these playoffs and needs Huerter's minutes. I'm predicting trade rumors this draft for KH.

4. Listen to offers for Capela, Gallo, and Bogi. Gallo gets traded soon. OO and Capela are totally non shooters and a choice will need to be made. Expecting OO to show more offensively next season. I feel he can shoot it but played his rookie role for the playoff push.

Just about it, the older vets like Snell, Lou, and Hill are likely gone.

Huerter does need to be shopped. Unfortunately, with his play in the last series, he might have found himself out of the main rotation for next season. If we bring back the same team (ex: Trae/Bogi/Hunter/JC/Capela with Reddish/Huerter/OO off the bench), then I see Huerter as being the main guy seeing a reduction in minutes. After a killer game 7 against Philly, he did not do well in the Bucks series. 34% from the field and 26% from 3 and an overall +/- of -21 for the series.

Priority List:
1. As much as Nate fustrates me with his rotations sometimes. Drop the interim tag so he becomes or permanent headcoach.

2. Resign Collins - yes he says he thinks he should be in the the max conversation, I don't think he gets one. Hawks offered 4/$90 a max from another team is 4/$120 - ithink there can be a meeting of the minds somewhere in the middle.

3. Draft - the #20 pick: I'm hoping we can find a 'Capela like trade' - a young player, preferably a PG, on a reasonable long term deal to trade #20.

4.Point Guard - Trae signs his early extention. Back up PG - we went into last offseason needing one and here we are again needing one. TJ MCConnell is my target.

5. Lou, Hill and Snell are most likely gone. One of Lou or Hill maybe back on a vet min for the locker room. Lou gave us 1 great game in each playoff series.

6. The wings: Bogi, Hunter, Reddish Huerter - keepers for now. We never had them all healthy all year. If an early value deal for Huerter can be negotiated, do it.
Add depth players to replace Snell and Hill: a player like Danuel House.

7. The Bigs: Hawks need some added depth there. Okongwu - would like to see him progress next season to have him get an even split of minutes with Capela aa his backup. Is Bruno salvageable?

Run it back and see where we are at the trade deadline.

Any idea what Atlanta would be looking for in a trade?

After the trade deadline this past year, it was rumored that Huerter was the most asked about player on the Hawks roster. Schlenk passed on all offers. I can't find any links to what teams were offering or what the Hawks were asking for though. He struggled in the Bucks series but his ability to play 3 spots (emergency PG, SG and SF) and as a starter or from the bench makes him versatile in the Hawks lineup.

Lopez bullied hawks cause hawks couldn’t sag cheat double team on Giannis clogging the paint.

Hawks are very small once capela leaves the floor. Ans capela isn’t a large center. He’s long. But not tall. And okungu and Collins are even smaller.

Contract should've been sitting on his desk after the clock hit 0.0 last night.

I think we need to use this money elsewhere.

If we can't land a good backup in the draft, definitely trade for 1.

jayu70 wrote:4.Point Guard - Trae signs his early extention. Back up PG - we went into last offseason needing one and here we are again needing one. TJ MCConnell is my target.

Kinda ties into 2 and 3, but McConnell would be a great target if we can't draft or trade for a backup PG. Which is why i'm willing to let Collins go so we can have money to do that.

Agreed.

Intrigued at how this battle ends between the 4 mentioned. A healthy Bogi likely starts at the 2, but the real decision comes down to who starts at the 3. I'd say Hunter probably gets the start, but the group is so interchangeable that you could put any of them in there at those 2 spots. Ideally we probably only want to keep 3 of them and let them split the minutes together, but now who becomes to odd man out?! End of bench depth, I wouldn't be oppose to Hill being the vet we bring back out of the Lou, Snell, Hill trio.

OO showed some good promise for sure. Will be valuable down the road. Bruno isn't worth the keep considering he's not giving us anything different or better than CApela/OO. We need to get a big, long body to put in against the Embiid/KAT's/Lopez's of the world, and that would essentially mean giving up on Bruno.

Generally, teams ask for players that they think teams are willing to move on from, not the “most undervalued” or beat players, in particular. They’re looking for a bargain. For Indy, reportedly, the guys most asked about the last two years at the deadline were Doug McDermott and Aaron Holiday, respectively.
