Ugh.

I would assume there’s less rush to deal Lamb now.

The Craig signing makes a lot more sense now

Oh, we just still really needed more guys that could play the 4, and if possible, more of a 3/4 than a 4/5. Craig fit. We overpaid him, and for a year too long, but my hope is that it was an overpay with the agreement that he was going to be a really situational guy, and we wanted him to be solid in the locker room with some security. We did the same with TJ McConnell 2 years ago, and that was a grand slam for us. In this case, Oshae was still a question mark in terms of if he was just a pandemic surprise, TJ was coming off the injury, and otherwise, we didn’t really have any 3/4 guys. We had 2/3 guys, and we had 4/5 guys, but no real 3/4 guys. That we signed one wasn’t surprising. That it was Craig at his number? Well, yeah. That was surprising.

Man what is it with Indiana and getting amazing small forwards that end up with catastrophic injures? Since I have started following basketball it has been:

1. Danny Granger and his knee
2. Paul George and his tibia
3. TJ Warren and his foot

Just devastating luck that has upended really promising teams. Fortunately, I think Indiana is really well-placed this time to be very good despite it, but just terrible for Warren who is due a payday and might not get as big of one because of this.

Getting pretty damn excited about the upcoming season. In reading this board outside of Dallas who has like 5 or 6 guys who ideally wouldn't be on the roster and OKC, every team in this league has 15 great players and several have 16 or 17 and are facing incredibly tough decisions who to cut/trade.

Season is going to be lit. No tankers, superteams everywhere. Let's go! Let's go!

I remember a lot of Pacer fans being bummed we cut Magnum Rolle years ago after a strong summer league showing. A lot of us were convinced he would be a solid, end of the bench guy with some modest potential.

It happens every year and every year 99.9% of those cuts never make it further than the G League. Same for the washed vets who end up getting cut. I guarantee you'd have fans pumping Monta Ellis as someone who can provide solid minutes if he happened to still be on a roster.

I have some friends from the Bahamas and they were super hype about Rolle, since he was the only recent Bahamian. Then we got Buddy and Ayton.

But yeah we all get way to into our prospects. I actually find this board as a good gut check on my homerish views on deep prospects.

More of a SG but Oladipo being robbed by injuries is just as tragic. Team been having bad luck.

Oh man. This is a heartbreaker. He had overcome several other serious injuries to be a key contributor for the Pacers last year.

We’re getting to a point that Lamb may be a keeper.

Was excited to see how Rick used Sumner. Not shaping up to be a good start to the season for Indy. And really awful for Sumner who had a good shot at earning a bigger contract next summer.

Poor guy - just coming up on his contract year. Had a .626 TS% last season - amazing for a guard.

Part of this is that management has used injury concerns in players to buy low. Sumner was drafted 54th with a pick we bought because he had a couple major injuries in college.

We've also had some brutal luck with other guys as well.
