just for **** and giggles... let's send John Wall back to Washington. They're one of the few teams with a lot of expendable multi-year contracts.

John Wall
a future mid 1st (Idk which pick makes most sense to trade, maybe a distant BRK pick?)
for
Davis Bertans
Kyle Kuzma
Harrell or Bryant
some end of bench guys

total money of the WAS package works out to a similar-ish number, just stretched out over more years. The 1st is for the moderate talent difference.

Washington:
Dinwiddie/Wall (24min apiece to keep them fresh and healthy?)
Beal/Kispert
KCP/Avdija
Rui
Bryant/Gafford

Houston:
i have no clue what Houston's rotation, but it completely clears up the guard minutes for Suggs and Porter

Money looks like the following:
Hou out: $51,310,840 $47,366,760.00 (DJ is cut for 333k) $98,677,600.00
Cle out: $57,191,590.00 $36,368,918 $93,560,508.00

Difference:
Year 1 Hou + 5.9m (not enough to be in tax)
Year 2 Cle +11m
Total 5.1m difference

Yeah, I'd do this. hoping it's either shuffling bad money or he sits the whole year. If it's one of those I'm happy, if they use assets I am upset

if they traded porter with wall would be bad.. but i dont dobut they would

I do. Heavily. Rockets probably welcoming this because they want Porter to play point guard

If the Rockets play this smart (trade for similar junk like Love and Cedi or just sit him all year and buy him out next year if you can't find someone who would take him as expiring) I am glad this is happening because he was really making it hard to play KPJ and Green at the spots where the Rockets want them (1 and 2 respectively) , and developing the young guys is priority number one. If they use any kind of FRP or player of value to get off of him this is a disaster to varying levels

Rockets then buyout Love who even if he gives no money back will cost them less than Wall.
Cavs use Wall as a backup PG for a year then buy him out next year while pocketing a first round pick for their troubles. And they gamble he's healthy and solid enough where he gives back $7 or $8M which means they bought that late first pretty cheaply.

But yeah its a buyout. But a Cavs swap of problems just makes too much sense since Wall can actually play a role and Rubio's money is right there to match.

I've mentioned the same concept in 'Cavs/Rockets'. If you're adding draft compensation, even better. I think this does make a lot of sense for both teams. As long as Wall is ready to compete for the 6th man of the year award and isn't expecting to be 'the man'.

saw the later note with Augustin, Cedi, and no picks. if i'm CLE i'd rather keep Cedi and get the picks.

This trade (surprisingly) works on the trade checker:

DAL sends / HOU receives: Kristaps Porzingis, Dwight Powell, Trey Burke
HOU sends / DAL receives: John Wall, Christian Wood

Why this trade works for Dallas: Mavs replace KP, who struggled in the playoffs, with the much better Wood. In exchange, they take a chance on Wall playing at a decent level for the next 2 years (he played decent last year when he suited up). Their new lineup:

PG...Wall...Brunson
SG...THT...Bullock...Brown
SF...Doncic...DFS
PF...Wood...Kleber
C...WCS...Marjanovic...Brown

Why this trade works for Houston: The Rockets break Wall's contract into easier-to-move pieces. They can rehab KP's value and trade him at the deadline or keep him. Powell can be bought out or they can attempt to trade him. Burke can play a role at point while they develop younger players. Their new lineup:

PG...Augustin...Burke
SG...Green...Gordon
SF...Porter...House...Nwaba
PF...Porzingis...Theis
C...Sengun...Garuba...Powell

What do you think?
My Dream Team
PG...Magic Johnson...Steph Curry
SG...Michael Jordan...Kobe Bryant
SF...Larry Bird...LeBron James
PF...Tim Duncan...Charles Barkley
C...Kareem Abdul-Jabbar...Wilt Chamberlain

Is there any merit to a Wall + 1sts for Simmons/Curry package whereby Curry is sent to a 3rd team for more draft picks coming to Philly?

With the league getting smaller can Wall reasonably get minutes as a SF? Its the only thing that could help up his value I can think of.

Wall for Love/Cedi makes the most sense.

Would take a lot of firsts unless you mean the own rockets firsts the next two years which I doubt they'd do

I'm not crazy about this for Dallas in part because I'm not quite as high on Wood as most, but Dallas would have to consider this for sure. And Kidd is probably more receptive to a PG like Wall than Rick who I think would have wanted no part of.

Can't see the Rockets doing this at all. They punt on all value they could get for Wood and while KP should be better value than Wall the next 2 seasons even if he only plays 55 games a year he still has that potential big 3rd year. Plus they eat $15M in unattractive money next year meaning they don't really save much financially. Unless they were strangely big believers in KP, I'd rather deal Wood for value and ride out/buy out Wall.

Mixing them:

HOU gets Bledsoe and KLove
LAC get Wall and House
CLE gets Morris and Kennard

CLE gets two players that could actually contribute.
LAC gets Wall.
HOU saves a little money by buying out Bledsoe at end of season or sooner (only $5mil?)

I would too as Cleveland. But assuming Houston sees themselves as a bottom 3 team next 2 years and no reason to lose picks and thus that wasn't on the table, would you do the Rubio/Cedi/Love for Wall/Dj trade ?

Wall for Love/Rubio makes more

Rubio could provide structure for HOU while still letting Green and KPJ go nuts with the scoring.
Plus Cedi is the only rotation player on CLE's roster from 6'6" to 6'9", lol.

would prefer not. DJ offers nothing for CLE, Cedi is at least playable for them and the way their roster is constructed (sadly) a body they need. not likely going to allow either guy stop the deal if the core Wall-Rubio/Love piece is in place though.

HOU Out
Wood
Wall

LAC Out
Bledsoe
Kennard
Ibaka
Morris Sr.

LAC takes on Wall's contract and gets a more dynamic big. May need to add in more value.

HOU can waive Morris & Ibaka and see what they like in Bledsoe & Kennard.

Honestly I do not see how Wall could be moved just spit ballin.

*Edited to have correct trade in ESPN*

Unless Morris, Ibaka and Kennard are injured and can't play (but not career ending to where they can get they salaries off the books), the Clippers would need more to make this even considerable. I'd ask for Jaygup and Jr, bringing them back to SoCal.

Wall is absolutely cooked and I'm not sold on Wood being a cog of a good team.
