Wall/House/Worse of 22 BKN/MIA 1st(top 14 protected)

for

Love/Rubio

Rockets then buyout Love who even if he gives no money back will cost them less than Wall.
Cavs use Wall as a backup PG for a year then buy him out next year while pocketing a first round pick for their troubles. And they gamble he's healthy and solid enough where he gives back $7 or $8M which means they bought that late first pretty cheaply.

But yeah its a buyout. But a Cavs swap of problems just makes too much sense since Wall can actually play a role and Rubio's money is right there to match.

Not gonna be many takers, I don't think. Just matching salary is hard enough and I don't know if Houston is willing to sweeten it much at this stage. OKC *just* went through something very similar with Kemba and we saw how that turned out.

A while ago I proposed a trade that sent him to the Clippers, but with the Bledsoe trade that's out too.

Obviously he’s not going opt out. Unless freditti pays 85% of his full contract ….

Yeah, this is tough. There’s no TPE’s large enough, and I don’t see OKC and their cap space coming into play with Wall with Walker and his bought out contract on the books, so any team acquiring Wall would have to send out over $35m in salary, and there’s just not many teams that have $35+m of “dead salary” that they’d likely be willing to deal for Wall.

As Chuck posted above, Cleveland with Love seems like one of the few teams with large enough of dead salary to move. But I don’t see them being willing to risk exacerbating their Love salary issue by dealing him for a much larger one that they also don’t have a role for at this moment. Maybe in a multi-team if Cleveland deals Sexton elsewhere? I still doubt it, but I don’t know.

Looking just money and seeing
Wall/Augustin for Love/Cedi/Rubio

Money looks like the following:
Hou out: $51,310,840 $47,366,760.00 (DJ is cut for 333k) $98,677,600.00
Cle out: $57,191,590.00 $36,368,918 $93,560,508.00

Difference:
Year 1 Hou + 5.9m (not enough to be in tax)
Year 2 Cle +11m
Total 5.1m difference

They'll have to wait a while for trade restrictions to lift but maybe?

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yhw8n9l4

HOU Out
Wood
Wall

LAC Out
Bledsoe
Kennard
Ibaka
Morris Sr.

LAC takes on Wall's contract and gets a more dynamic big. May need to add in more value.

HOU can waive Morris & Ibaka and see what they like in Bledsoe & Kennard.

Honestly I do not see how Wall could be moved just spit ballin.

*Edited to have correct trade in ESPN*

I’m sure Fertitta would be happy to pay 85% of just his salary this year if he were to opt out of the last year. That would essentially be Wall giving up about $54m in buyout, and allow Houston out of his deal this year, which would probably be by far the best possible return for Houston.

from money standpoint would they give up 2-3 draft pick to trade wall? I mean ownership doesnt want fit the bill. He will opt in for 45.3 million deal

Nah, that’s a pretty good spit ball, there. Even if that’s not the deal, that’s some good out of the box thinking. :dontknow:

This is so much better with Cedi and no pick going to Cleveland. Everyone ignore mine and look only at this one please.

Yeah, Wall is DEFINITELY opting into that last year of $47.3m. There’s no way he’s not. No one here could possibly state he would opt out with any reasonality.

This is interesting. Wall is definitely a nice fit with PG and Kawhi, but they won’t have any flexibility moving forward. Maybe that trio (along with Wood) is enough to get them into the contender conversation, but I see huge issues if it doesn’t. It’s risky. Is this a championship roster?
Wall-Jackson
PG-Johnson-Scrubb
Kawhi-Mann-Winslow
Morris-Batum
Wood-Zubac
I think it’s close. They would have to follow this up with sending out anything they can for shooting.

I see no reason for Houston not to do this. They break up the Wall contract with the only loss being Wood. Easy yes from my point of view. (I almost feel like they need to provide small draft compensation)

Nice proposal.

Yeah, I'd do this. hoping it's either shuffling bad money or he sits the whole year. If it's one of those I'm happy, if they use assets I am upset

Cuban would be interested I'm sure but can't get him without giving up KP and in that case we would arguably get worse rather than better.

Bad trade for HOU. What is their goal here? Losing Wood just to get rid of Wall is horrendous, especially for a rebuilding team on a small market. If they sell on Wood it'll be for pick/prospects.
