1/4 Of The Season Fake Headline: Bradley Beal Informs Washington He Will Not Re-Sign

I took away all the fun with my rules in the New Orleans thread so I'll make up for it here...

What if it finally reaches a point where Beal starts to realize he probably won't re-sign, but is loyal enough to the franchise that he couldn't just leave them empty handed in free agency and allows them the chance to trade him before the deadline?

Which team would make the most competitive offer?

The question is will he agree to sign with team he is traded to. Big difference between a rental and a re-signed star.

But for giggles:
thompson (plays poorly upon return), Kuminga, Wiseman, 2022 1st, 2026 top4 protected 1st, 2028 top 4 protected 1st

For Beal, Bryant, Dinwiddie

Bryant/Looney
Green/OPJ
Wiggins/Moody
Beal/Poole
Curry/Dinwiddie

Horford, Nesmith, Langford, BOS22FRP for Beal

Smart, Beal, Brown, Tatum, RW3 -- Schroeder, Pritchard, J-Rich, Parker, Kanter

Whether it is

* A trade before the deadline

* A Sign & Trade in the offseason

* A signing as a FA

is he really going to be that concerned about how things turn out for Washington?

If Beal's destination team is sending out more assets than absolutely necessary, then it could hurt their chances of assembling the best team possible around Beal and make it more difficult for them to be a true contender.

I realize it is a Warm & Fuzzy thing for Beal to be sentimental about his time in Washington, but pragmatism suggests that he should put himself first which means his destination team needs to be in the best position possible.

They should just move him right. Waiting until next year when he is just a rental...or having to do a sign and trade later.

Seems like they could leverage A LOT from Philly right now. Get a third team involved if they don't think Simmons is a fit with the timeline.

Ideally you want to deal him to a contender who still has their 2022 1st at a minimum. There are 2 clubs: Philly and Golden State. This is assuming he wants to pursue 2022 free agency.

I still think Simmons + 2022 1st for Beal might be the way to go. Washington can either keep Simmons long term, prop up his trade value over this season or flip him immediately for more picks.

I'd rather see Beal walk and the Wiz get the cap room than accept that poo poo platter.

A team with no promise of keeping Beal beyond next year would likely make a better offer than that.

Yeah that's the most straightforward one, but if Washington wants to go for the tank there could be a 3-team deal where Golden State gets Simmons, sends Washington Wiggins + Wiseman, and then Philadelphia and Golden State both chip in picks to even it out.

I think they should try to squeeze Morey for Simmons+. Maybe try to get Maxey and a couple 1sts.

Warriors probably have the best deal to offer and the most attractive destination for Beal to resign

Kuminga
Moody
Wiseman
Wiggins
3 1sts

For

Beal
Bertans
Bryant

I would agree. Kuminga showed me enough during summer league that he could be centerpiece of a deal.

I think its GSW or bust.

Beal/Bertans for Wiggins/Wiseman/Kuminga/Moody - salaries match perfectly.

You think? Philly currently being offered the likes Sexton, Beasley & Hield for Simmons. Philly would have to come up with alot more to pry Beal away.

If Morey has gotten a bunch of picks, that's the obvious location. I'd be calling up Golden State, though, absent that.

Wiseman + Kuminga + Moody + Wiggins for Beal + KCP + Harrell + Gafford, or something to that effect.

I got this as a big overpay. What does the second best offer look like to drive up the price so much? Wiggins is negative but so is Bertans, so that is a near wash.

I'm not particularly interested in Beal for GS. Just don't think he's all that good.

That is a huge overpay. Bertrans and bryant value cancel each other out. Wiggins needs a first to move. So that is Wiseman, Moody, and Kuminga and two firsts for beal. Who the hell are they competing against that they have to offer that?

Yeah, I'm with you. If DC wants simmons at the 4, would philly also eat Bertrans? You are not going to trade Beal for Simmons unless Philly adds a bunch, DC is just loaded in the frontcourt already.

Get the Hawks on line 1. They have "too many" guys with value to play.

Hawks: Beal, J Green,

Wiz: okongwu, Reddish, thrill Barton, Gallinari, Hawks picks, Nugs picks

Nugs: Bogdanovic, bertans
