Tor/ GS

This is a simple trade that gives GS more depth for a championship run and allows a worthwhile risk for Toronto Long term

To GS: Chris Boucher, Isaac Bonga

To Toronto: James Wiseman

Has to be executed on Dec 15

Why for GS. This is a Championship run team for the next few year and you have another couple of young guys that you aren't playing. Boucher is a decent piece that you are short of, which is playable length off the bench or even starting (I think he would be a good PF to play next to Green as a starting center) You also get a raw but decent prospect in Bonga. He actually has a lot of potential and is doing real well in the G league but we have a whole factory of athletic, defensive, dribbling, passing 6-7 to 6-9 guys who can't shoot.

Why for Tor: What we we don't have is a legit 7'er with athleticism. Wiseman could spend the year in our G-league and be a legit test of our development system. It is not a huge price we are paying other than salary, since Boucher seems to have gotten into Nurse's dog house and needs a fresh start. If he pans out and could provide a legit 7' defensive presence on the inside it is well worth the risk. I think that with a fresh start and Toronto's development team he really could pan out.

There's several problems with this for GS.

First, the Warriors have excellent depth already. Boucher isn't really better then any of their rotation guys.

Second, the one rotation role GS might be lacking if they don't trust Wiseman (or trade him) is a big center. Boucher isn't a big center option.

Third, GS would have to waive one of the guys they already have and like to take back Bonga.

Fourth, Wiseman's value may not be all that high, but it's surely still higher then a EC filler depth guy.

In short, GS has great depth and has no incentive to trade upside youth for extra depth.

makes zero sense for GSW. They are better served combining wiseman with other assets for an impact starter

While I’d love to do this, GS would be crazy. Boucher has looked horrible this year

Boucher to GSW makes a lot of sense but not at the expense of Wiseman. I would counter with:

Looney + Lee + Raps 55-60 protected 2022 2nd round pick

The Raps would subsequently buyout Dragic and replace him in backcourt rotation with Lee and get back their 2022 2nd. It frees up a roster spot for GSW if they want to add someone come buyout season in 2022.

Boucher has been terrible this season, I wouldn’t even trade him for a protected 2nd rounder. This is horribly 1 sided for Toronto.

This is horribly one-sided for Toronto. Boucher is playing like a buy out candidate and he's optimistically worth a 2nd.

Yeah I was going to say a buyout feels like the most likely way Boucher joins the Dubs

Raps fan here - no way GS does this.
