If Cleveland wanted to trade Sexton's matching rights (feel free to include Osman, Markkanen and Love for salary purposes), what would be the best wing option possible?

Injured and coming into a big contract might complicate the issue. Maybe something around Slomo?

I thought the Warren idea was less well received than I thought it should have been.

But for a lot of teams it probably requires a three way deal. And salary matching for Cleveland is hard above Sexton’s salary.

Wasn't it just that it wasn't a legal deal? And there wasn't an easy way to make it legal, and keep both teams out of the luxury tax? I just don't think it could have been considered without those things being solved, as the variance in value was huge without those questions answered.

Cleveland would have to add some mins I think to make it work, but I think they had them. I didn’t post this but that’s the kind of thing that could get pawned onto a third team since Indy doesn’t have the roster spots. With some incentives.

Indy wouldnt want to cut players to make room for the Min's

Read the post again. I think OKC, Houston, likely others could facilitate

I didn't hate it. Probably needs a third team.

I'd also consider Burks and a pick from the Knicks.

There just has to be enough value to convince the Cavs to forgo the opportunity to re-sign him to a reasonable deal this summer. Im not sure what that is as I would've taken the Herro+ offer last summer.

That makes the trade legal, but it still pushes the Cavs into the tax and nobody knows what this year's version of Warren will be like. And in the meantime the Cavs lose the end of their bench. Big risk for what possible reward?

And again, it's a rental.

yea nah yea...not interested. Burks is useful for us right now. We're not at play for the future mode yet.

Eh Knicks should start considering it. But if I’m NY I’m trying to extract more than Sexton if there’s a pick involved.

Is New York willing to pay good money to both Sexton and Fournier?

Maybe. But its still too early in the year. If we're still in this same boat by late January then sure. Lets look to the future. But right now too many guys are playing below the levels they were expected to play and I think they deserve a chance to bound back. If they don't then we start looking to the future.

Wouldn’t it take like 3-5 mins to work for matching and taxes? But, adding in a 3rd team to siphon the minimal value out of a tight margin deal seems like a way to kill the deal.

Yeah, Windler would have to be one of those guys, which has me a little wobbly tbh, but I think he could be the added value with Valentine and Pangos

It's pretty risky for the Cavs with Warren being a UFA this summer, but I'd rather take that risk and have a chance of the trade working out for the Cavs.
