[PHI-CLE-DET] another Simmons trade

Philadelphia trades: Ben Simmons, Isaiah Joe
Philadelphia receives: Jerami Grant, Ricky Rubio, 2024 CLE 1st (1-10 protected, 2 2nds)
Philadelphia gets a third option who fits their team pretty well in Grant and returns a starting caliber point guard. I think they then look to aggregate their 2022 1st + the 2024 CLE 1st + some of their young pieces for another impact player.
Cleveland trades: Ricky Rubio, Lauri Markkenan, Collin Sexton, 2022 CLE 1st (1-4 protected, 2 2nds [SAS + HOU 2022]), 2024 CLE 1st (1-10 protected, 2 2nds)
Cleveland receives: Ben Simmons, Isaiah Joe
Cleveland gets Simmons and clarifies their rotation moving forward. They'll have to add a long-term fit at shooting guard (Caris LeVert starts to make a lot more sense now) but they would have a really excellent young core that would be a nightmare to score against with Simmons-Mobley-Allen in the frontcourt (+ Garland).
Detroit trades: Jerami Grant
Detroit receives: Lauri Markkenen, Collin Sexton, 2022 CLE 1st (1-4 protected, 2 2nds [SAS + HOU 2022])
Detroit swaps Grant for a young guard, and a power forward with range + a mid-first in 2022. I think sending Lauri to PHI and Rubio here could work, but Lauri actually seems like a nice fit with Cade.

This isn’t the kind of trade the Sixers are looking for. A middling player and 1 pick.
The trade. Has to be a top 40 player or 6 picks.

Good lord i hope CLE isn't this stupid. Its not bad value, but what a phenomenal way to fix something that isn't broke. As far as i can tell their rotation this year is pretty clear already. When they have everyone available they simply trounce all but the very best in the league...and their starters are all young, under team control, and don't come with gigantic questions about whether or not they actually give a crap about playing basketball. Further they're already a nightmare to score against due to the Okoro-Mobley-Allen trio. Also, not sure how LeVert would in anyway be a fit in a starting lineup you've just stripped of their spacing.
As for the full trade, that's quite a haul for Grant. I think DET says yes.

Again, Cleveland shouldn't put Ben with Allen in the same lineup.
That would be a disaster. Or one, or the other, not both.
Even with Mobley, his shot is not that good so yet to put Ben, Mobley, and Allen playing together.

My thoughts:
A 2nd/3rd scorer combo of Tobias and Grant doesn't hack it. And if they can cobble a couple 1st and young pieces into an impact player, they'll just do that with their own assets rather then burning the Simmons trade chip to do it.
Cleveland should take this and absolutely run but my guess is that their fans will be too afraid to break the 30-35 game start they've had.
I have this as good value for Detroit if they like Sexton....but I don't given his contract status. Good "value" for them in a vacuum but I think they can turn Grant into something a little more promising.

It’s probably solid deal around. I agree that Lauri going to the Sixers would add more value to the deal. I think that everyone needs to realize that a top 40 player isn’t being dealt for Simmons. The situation is so toxic right now. Plus he is on a max salary. I’m not sure that Philly will get the value that they are looking to get in a deal.

This is kind of my feeling, too. Simmons I think can return a nice top 50 player and a first, maybe a little more (e.g., in this case adding another role player). It feels like if that were not the case, the trade would have been done already, so Morey is just waiting to see if someone gets desperate before the deadline because there is no reason to make a move early (e.g. if Dame gets upset w/the situation in Portland, or Beal in Washington - both seem very possible).

If I were cleveland id rather try to pry Barnes away from sacramento. Cost less and would fit better

A passing point guard and scoring 4 ??? Isn’t that exactly what they need? They need pg desperately . The cavs don’t do this .Ben Simmons is not leader and Rick Rubio is good pg and provides leadership

Morey is definitely waiting for a star to fall.
The thing is constantly underestimated, however, is how long Morey is willing to wait.

He's free to wait, but I don't see how wasting a year of Embiid is helping them any.

Do you want older lillard 2 years from now ? I don’t see one falling . I have Westbrook for you

if you look at the top 30 or so guys in the nba, who do you see being traded for Simmons? It’s real tough to find a match that makes any sense

Making the OP trade is also wasting Embiid.
Morey is under contract the same amount of years as Ben. The only way the Sixers have a window is with a good Simmons return.

Westbrook hasn’t been a star for three years IMO.
Personally I see a middle ground (OP deal is not it). If Morey saw that same middle ground, I imagine a deal would’ve been done already.

This is a good Simmons return. You get a 16-20ppg 2-way forward, then a pick to aggregate for another impact player, and your pick of Lauri or Rubio to finish the rotation. [edit: maybe it gets swung if the pick Philly gets goes to Cleveland and Philly gets Sexton?]

Would you do Love and Rubio for simmons and danny green? i just dont see star coming anytime soon , maybe 2 seasons down the road you could get aging star.

No, they would not do that trade, that's just insulting.
