Chi-Det-Was all day 3 way

Chicago out - P-Will, TBJ
Chicago in - Kuzma

Washington out - Kuzma, Harrell
Washington in - Grant, TBJ

Detroit out - Grant
Detroit in - P-Will, Harrell

Works salary wise.

Bulls upgrade the PF spot with a SF (since we like to do that) that is actually not small.
Washington gets a better scorer to go with Beal, and clears front court space with Thomas and Rui coming back.
Pistons get P-Will (who they have been eyeing) and a decent center...and will have cap space (and Bird Rights) if they want to retain Harrell.

I'd be fine cutting Detroit out and just doing Kuzma for TBJ and PWill.
But I don't think Washington wants to move Kuzma for a prospect with Beal's future in the balance...at least not right now.

Detroit could maybe cut Chicago out and do something like Kuzma and Harrel for Grant, but I'm guessing Detroit would prefer the 20 year old prospect (P-Will) over Kuzma at this point in their season.

This way everyone is motivated.

Oddly enough, based on the ESPN trade checker, Washington is the big loser. It says they lose 15 games, while the Pistons win 15 games and the Bulls win 3 games. But they do it on PER, so it is all jacked up.

In looking at the trade again, a small tweak.
Chicago out - P-Will, TBJ
Chicago in - Kuzma, McGruder

Washington out - Kuzma, Harrell
Washington in - Grant

Detroit out - Grant, McGruder
Detroit in - P-Will, Harrell, TBJ

Detroit get TBJ instead of Washington, and Detroit sends Chicago any cheap scrub on a small 1 year deal so they only have to deal with one extra person on the roster.

Deal still works, but the Wizards stay out of the tax now...(and Chicago also stays out of the tax this year).

I'd rather cut out Detroit as a Washington fan and roll the dice on Pat Williams; I don't think Grant moves the needle for us and Detroit fans certainly don't seem to want to move him. We've still got Hachimura, Harrell, Avdija, Bertrans, and 1st round DC Isaiah Todd to cover the minutes at PF.

I will try
Kuzma/Harrell to Bulls
Grant to Wash
PWill/DJJ/MThomas (salary filler to keep the Bulls out of the tax-I think) to Detroit?

I wouldn't mind that for the Wiz, but they appear to be hell-bent on getting one of the last playoff spots - as usual, so they're not going to that - even if it makes sense.

Considering how Kuzma's done over the last 9 games, why would Washington prefer an injured Grant over Kuzma?

This. So for the Wiz, it's either keeping Kuzma (no trade) or trading him for the future (Pat Will). Problem is Ted Leonsis is unlikely to approve the latter as he is hell bent on shooting for the 8th seed/playin tournament.

I think is rather have P Will stay with the Bulls. We really need a strong athletic defender at that spot and I think he's the best were likely to get.

I'd do this as a Pistons fan. I'd probably also do Harrell/Kuzma or Pat Will and reasonable filler for Grant. I think there are plenty of deals Pistons fans would be happy to take. We're just not going to take crappy ones.
