Boston saves about $4 Million, Spurs/Denver get a slight upgrade [Denver stays under the cap].

Not the same as my cap-saving deal but I like it for everyone.

I have Celtics still about $2.778M above the tax line after this. General idea of this board has been attaching 2nds to Hernangomez' $6.8M salary to duck the tax. BOS can only contribute about $5M cash so they'd have to cover the rest. Now, BOS can send over money in excess of the contracts they're shedding. So I think the point of this on the BOS end is that instead of sending over 2nds to duck the tax, they can save their picks and just do it with money. Because it's delaying the clock to repeater rates that's more important vs the actual cost savings of ducking the tax to them.

Celtics save money, the Spurs get a chance to see if they can't help Juancho get back to what he was prior to his hip injury, and the Nuggets get a bench knockdown shooter that they desperately needed.

With Dozier and Bol out for the season it makes sense for the Nuggets, although I would have preferred someone bigger. This also opens up a roster spot for Cousins.

Think a Bol Bol + cash deal is in the cards if Boston still has cash to send out. Gets them out of the tax assuming Brown misses his bonuses

I don't really like it for the Spurs but I like Juancho and maybe they can get him into a grove. Good for C's and Den

The Spurs got a second for Forbes while not having to cut anyone or take on (guaranteed) salary for next season. As a mid-sized (functionally) expiring, Hernangomez is still moveable to take back a worse deal with more compensation or to work in a larger deal where he can be traded without aggregation but still help the Spurs take back a contract or two they wouldn't otherwise be able to.

I'm not sold it made sense for the third team to be included.

Denver: 2 injured guys and a 2nd for a guy who can play.
Boston: Shaves Salary for free
SAS:
Had a choice to take Denver package straight up:
2nd and restricted rights on Bol for Forbes while not adding salary or
2nd and add salary to trial Juancho before he is unrestricted

I'm not sure why SAS let Boston in here. Maybe Boston paid cash?

I think they wanted to trial out Juancho. Plus he has more value as trade filler in offseason.

Maybe they wanted Juancho rather than two guys who can't play this year.

Boston does need to make gambles on players sometimes. I can see Bol getting an opportunity here, cause we all know, if he can stay healthy and reach his potential he is a cheat code.

Priority 1 was shed cash
But if you can do that while getting a chance to take a look at an intriguing prospect, then win win.

He is unrestricted and I don’t see a huge S and T frenzy.

They definitely seemed to. I’m just not really sure why.
I would personally be leaning away from pushing for that coveted 10th seed.
