Lakers/Jazz/Mavs minor problem maybe?

Okay so I know Jazz fans hate Trey Burke, but I don't know why other than he wasn't very good for a lottery pick. If there is something more that prevents his return then scrap this.
Lakers trade: THT/any min guy they want
Lakers get: Clarkson
Utah trades: Clarkson
Utah gets: Burke/Sterling Brown
Dallas trades: Burke/Brown
Dallas gets: THT/any min Laker
Lakers get a competent bench scorer back in Clarkson. He's not shooting great this year, but can still help create offense for them and gives Vogel a more proven option.
Utah gets their wing defender in Brown, replaces some lost offense in Burke, and saves a fair chunk of change, shaving a pro-rated $6.2M off the payroll plus the tax savings.
Dallas supposedly had interest in THT as a free agent so this is just a long-term gamble. They give up 2 guys on the fringes of the rotation and can let THT have a redshirt year as they don't need him to play.
And you might could argue the Lakers should cut Dallas out, but its the Lakers so I assume they go for the name player, plus he's simply more explosive than Burke.

I think with the way Green has emerged there's no role/minutes for THT. Esp w/ bullock and THJ on the roster still.

There is more. He and his family were very active on social media criticizing Snyder and the Jazz organization for not playing him. Maybe that's not an issue, but I suspect it is, and it especially angered fans (and Jazz fans have a long memory). I don't hate this trade, but if there is a way to do it without Burke, that would be preferred. I think we'd rather take back Boban and cash and just buy him out so we aren't adding another roster spot.

From trading THT the Lakers are after a Point of Attack defender to start over Bradley or they are after a 3+D wing to start over Ariza. A player that is better than Bradley or Ariza at their roles should be gettable with THT.
Clarkson doesn't fulfill their need unfortunately. They have Monk for his role already.

I thought I was really clear I wasn't anticipating minutes for him? Maybe redshirt doesn't translate to Canadian?
And I expect Dallas to pursue a big deal this off-season so he could be part of the outgoing money matching because he's young. Or maybe Dallas has to include one of their veteran wings or Josh Green and some minutes open up. But this is just a flier for Dallas. They are positioned to help the other teams solve needs without it hurting them. (I'm not worried about tax next year because again I expect Dallas to try and do something bigger--they need to.)

You wouldn't have to take him--Dallas can use the TPE. I just thought the Jazz might want another guy who can create a shot--but yeah I knew he was a tough sell.

Fair enough if there is a deal to send out one of the 3 existing SGs on the roster this offseason. I was looking ahead to next year since all 3 of THJ/Bullock/Green will still be under contract. To be honest i'm not sure THT would make for a good filler as he'd be negative value after being red-shirted as you said

Would Clarkson suit Dallas?

Oh I agree he'd not have positive value to add to a trade. But he's one of those filler guys that sounds good in a presser for the other team. Look at this 21 year old athletic wing bursting with potential we just got. And because he is a Laker, he has name cache that similar players don't have. A rebuilding team maybe takes him over Reggie Bullock perhaps?

He makes too much money to match now that WCS was waived so not really an option. But I hear you that Clarkson's not what you are looking for in LA.

Lakers are in a tough position, there are few moves they can do to get better.
Best case scenarioNunn comes back and can be the POA defender that starts.
THT can be moved (with picks maybe) for Covington as Portland likes the fit of THT with Simons for a backcourt.
12 man rotation: Nunn, Westbrook, Covington, LeBron, Davis -- Bradley, Monk, Reaves, Ariza, Johnson, Melo, Howard
If it's not Covington then it needs to be something like that, if Nunn isn't a reliable POA then they need to trade Nunn+THT for a POA defender and then they just start Reaves.
If Mavs would give DFS for a future FRP it could work.
Dallas get THT+FRP
Lakers get DFS

THT is another good young prospect. If this offer is on the table for the Mavs they should take it.

Clarkson and Westbrook on the same team? Just seems like a recipe for disaster.

Lakers win in value but I don't think Clarkson a better bench scorer than Monk and he redundant. Essentially worse offense and defensive version of Monk while more expensive. Then with AB don't really see minutes or a need for Clarkson
If Dallas is willing to to take THT, I think Lakers can find a better fit by taking on bad money

Fine with this for the Mavs, those 2 guys dont play much if at all, and having a surplus of wings isnt a bad thing
Thanks Chuck for not directing Clarkston our way, cant believe there are Mavs fans who want him
