I hate this. I sincerely hope they talked to his representatives ahead of time and explained that he's not here to hijack the offense because that's the only shot this has at working.

Cleveland does need a wing with some secondary ball-handling skills.

Presumably Rubio's EC is making most or all of the salary matching, it's just what else is involved.

Levert runs hot and cold so at times he looks valuable and at other times looks significantly overpaid where just getting out of his contract is a win.

Edit: If it's a 1st and the two high 2nds that Cleveland has then the Cavs are buying high on Levert.

Protections will be interesting as I still think Cavs could end up in the play-in.

Wow. I like Levert more than most (hate him less than most?) but even I didn't expect him to pull quite that much.

Will be very interesting to see how he fits in with this exciting Cavs team!

Of course they could. They are only 3 games ahead of the 7th seed.

Yup Indiana did pretty well. Thought they would get a lotto protected first at best

Good news is they didn't do something with more significant salary ramifications, they didn't move Sexton (yet), and they at least were smart enough to put lottery protection on the 1st even if that seems unnecessary for the moment.

Overpay, but Cavs needed that move.

Houston 2022 is way too much omg...almost two 2 FRPs as they wanted.

Pacers fans have to feel great about this. They were never getting two real 1sts for Levert. They took on no longterm money, a good first, a great 2nd.

The value surrendered is insane for what we got IMO. I'd love to know what the next best offer for LeVert was because I doubt it involved getting of his second year and a first of any kind.

It should’ve been a top 20 protected first that turns into those two seconds tbh if it doesn’t convey this year.

LeVert brought a much better package than Norman Powell...

I think it is a reasonable trade. Rubio is dead salary this year, and LeVert is a good player. Teams need guys that can score at high volumes on near league-average efficiency, as much as we may hate it, high volume self-creation on non-abysmal but not-efficient efficiency has value, especially in second units. League average TS% is 55.9%, LeVert is at 53%, take out centers and I think that he's right at league average for wings. He also generates looks for other players.
