Nets straighten out their team
Durant to PHX
Ayton S&T, Dinwiddie, Bridges, Mavs future 1st to Nets
Irving to Mavericks
Brunson S&T + 2nds to NYK
Nets/PHX work around Aytons BYC by sending Kyrie(who is likely wanting out as well) to the Mavs for Dinwiddie and a first (saves 16 million), Mavs are able to eat the additional salary by making Brunson a S&T to NYK. NYK does it for the 2nds and to help get KD/Irving out of NY.
This is assuming Ayton gets a near max, Brunson gets the expected contract. This is a rough framework I'm sure additional picks / players would be involed.

Because I figure we're probably going to need one.
A few notes for anyone trying to generate a trade:
* Miami has to unprotect its pick to OKC to free up its future assets
* Any sign-and-traded player (Ayton, for example) kicks in Base Year Compensation rules, which are incredibly complicated but can be found on cbafaq.com. Basically: the team trading the player for KD cannot receive nearly as much salary as they send. This complicates anything like an Ayton swap.
* And another note:
TheShow2021 wrote:OP or mod, can you add this list to the first post? Would be easier for people to navigate potential trades.
Designated. Rookie Extension Contract Players: (Cannot be traded to BKN unless Simmons is outgoing)
BOS: Tatum
BKN: Simmons
DAL: Doncic
DEN: Jokic
GSW: Wiggins
MIA: Bam
MIN: KAT
NOP: Ingram
OKC: SGA
PHX: Booker
SAC: Fox
TOR: Siakam
UTA: Mitchell
WAS: Porzingis
If anything on list is wrong, please correct.

It's not legal. Ayton is going to want the max. They already have Ben Simmons making the max. You can't have two rookie max extensions on the same team.
And I don't think Dallas gets Irving for a sign and traded Brunson

Someone can (and should) correct me if I'm wrong, but Ayton would be signing a new contract, not getting an extension. So I don't think that part is an issue.

Even if it were, what happens If Ayton takes a dollar (or 100k, or a million) less than the max?
Another question, can PHX S&T Ayton and combine another player (Bridges) in the same trade?

Close, but not quite:
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q24There is a limit to the number of designated players a team can have on its roster at a time. A team can have up to two designated rookies (who received a longer rookie scale extension) and up to two designated veterans (who received higher than the 30% maximum salary) at any time.2 However, only one designated rookie may have been acquired from another team in a trade.I do not believe Ayton qualifies for the Designated rookie contract.

They can acquire him. The limits are for the designated the max extension not signing a new contract.
They can combine Ayton with other players as well.

If Durant really wants Miami I think the basis of the trade has to be a 3 team deal. Something like:
Durant to Miami
Herro, OG, GTJ, picks to Brooklyn
Bam to Toronto?
With more added to make sur its legal and value is right but I like the framework of it
I actually like the idea of all those wings next to Simmons in Brooklyn

I'd try to build a Cavs offer around Jarrett Allen, but I think he's off the table due to teams not being able to trade for multiple players on 5-year rookie extensions. Sending him (and maybe LeVert) back to Brooklyn would be poetic.
(I think it's the 5-year deals and not max deals that are restricted.)

Mobley + Sexton (S&T) + Okoro for Kevin Durant.

That's a solid deal. Too many other deals are trying to use role players to get Durant. You have to be willing to move your best or second best player, otherwise it's not happening IMO

Apparently, Bam is one of the reasons he has Miami on his list.

The bidding starts with Mobley.

Yeah I'd say Herro+Butler is a more likely move

Atlanta / Brooklyn

Atlanta receives: Kevin Durant
Brooklyn Receives: John Collins, DeAndre Hunter, and Onyeke Okongwu
Why Atlanta does this:
Kevin Durant would fit perfectly in Atlanta especially if they institute a Golden State style system
Why Brooklyn does this:
You get an all star caliber PF, a great young two way wing in Hunter, with a young Okongwu to sweeten the deal.
