Trade Value: LeBron vs Westbrook

Post#1 » by Colbinii » Fri Oct 21, 2022 5:51 pm

Greetings T&T Board!

One of the better posters on this forum as a whole believes the value of LeBron and Westbrook to not be wildly different. Since this is a trade topic, I figured I would bring this question to the T&T Board.

Lebron is not that far off from WB in trade value.

Why would any up and coming team want Lebron? They dysfunction? The $44M contract? Probably not going to get along with the coach. Probably going to tell the GM to trade every player under 25 for a Klutch client.

It is similar to Draymond where he is better off where he is because its not going to work anywhere else. Draymond knows he's going to sign that PO. Lebron knows he can't get everything he wants anywhere else, and he can always blame Pelinka for the roster.....

This statement alone means that whoever you are quoting is probably one of the worst posters on this forum.

Is this a serious question?

I think the point of the above referenced post was that if Lebron, similar to other aging stars, hit the market the number of suitors would be limited. It would need to be a win now team, and those teams tend to have limited assets, and would need to move a key piece or pieces to absorb the contract. For example, Philadelphia fits the win now window and could make the math work based around Tobias Harris. The only thing of value Philly can trade are pick swaps and Mattyese Thybulle. But remember, Lebron can't be traded in season, which takes Tyybulle off the table, but puts a 2030 PHIL 1st in play.

If both Lebron James and Russell Westbrook were Free Agents right now, teams would be giving up around 30-35 million dollars to sign Lebron James. Russell Westbrook would be lucky to get a Mid level exception. This is not even remotely debatable far as who has higher trade value.

There’s probably 20 teams that would call and make an offer on Bron if he asked out. I’m not sure there’s any team who would trade for Russ unless they’re dumping bad contracts or LA is attaching picks to him.

Not sure if this is a troll post or if your serious?

LeBron easily is a stater on most teams in this league his IQ, passing ability and the fact he's still a almost walking triple double should tell you everything. Westbrook has looked god awful since going to LA I don't see many teams he's a starter on

No idea which poster inspired this. If a trade board reg thinks this and feels like they can justify that position, feel free to start a new thread and try it. If' its a poster from other boards, they would be welcome to do the same, but really better bring it since they don't have the built-in credibility here.

But with no justification given for why this is the case, this appears to be nothing but another tired trolling Lebron take by the mystery poster. Lebron is clearly still a far more viable player than Westbrook, and of course the other value he brings a franchise in attention and immediate credibility versus Westbrook is immense as well.

So I'm making the choice to lock this. If Colbini believes this as much as whomever he anonymously quoted he's welcome to make his case in a new thread, but he needs to be prepared for pushback as this seems absurd on the surface.
