Franchise players are clearly the most valuable asset in the NBA, so they went early in our polls. Now we are discussing players that are #1 options vs young players that aren’t even that yet, but have a chance to become ones and even become franchise players. We all have our own opinions on trade value, but for me, if a player has a 20% chance at being a franchise player, that risk is equivalent to a solid #1 option that isn’t. That criteria had me vote for Booker earlier, but here I’ll take Ant.

I had hoped for less inconsistency from Edwards in his third year, but he has had individual franchise performances in various games, and he is adapting to Gobert (it took Mitchell a long time too, and he had a better BB background). Ant is just 21, has that ridiculous athleticism and strength, but most important to me, he has a mindset where he wants to take on the hardest defensive assignments and still be a dominant force offensively. We have franchise players that don’t even do that. With most likely seven years left on his deal when he gets an extension, I hope I don’t sound like too much of a homer when I put Edwards in this spot.
