V Edwards

I have this between him and Hali, and while I think Hali is better right now, Edwards physical ability has me willing to pay more to acquire him

V. Hali. He's a crazy steal with his contract. That's what this is supposed to be about, right?

They are both getting max extensions in two years, both for five years and paying them more than $200 mil.

Saving $7 mil each of the next 2 years won’t dissuade any GM from preferring the player they think is better. It’s about seven years of control.

Shouldn't Jalen Green have more traction for nomination? Sure he is just volume scoring on a bad team but at his age I think a lot of teams would be believers. Note that a guy like Morant for example wasn't there in terms of the efficiency/advanced stats in his 2nd year.

I love Garland, but I've got to go with Haliburton here as my vote.

Nominate Siakam.

I think he will be a good player in the future, but there are young players with similar or better production leading their teams to wins right now. I think Green comes into the conversation for a nomination toward the tail end of this list. Right now, he's scoring 2 more ppg on worse efficiency (much worse) than Jordan Clarkson (53.4%TS vs. 54.9%) while not having an advantage in peripheral stats. Obviously he will be better than Jordan (and I just pick him b/c of his statistical profile on my favorite team), but currently he is not, or if he is, it is not by much ...

I'm not a fan of projecting skill sets that players haven't actually demonstrated into trade value.

Also, what if you don't believe Morant actually has the 7th highest trade value in the NBA?

Banchero

Nom - #1 overall Draft pick. Victor Wambanyama I’d take as a building block over most people on this list and he’d be on the rookie deal.
