Felt he could've gone #1. Not enough offense for that type of All NBA level salary, and risky.
Nominate Bagley

Bagley. I think Zach LaVine might be more dangerous, but I think GM’s could market LaVine. Bagley just has that stench of mistake.

I'm going Simmons here.
I think he's more talented than most of the guys on this list and is even playing better than most, but his baggage makes him harder to value higher imo. Like I can talk myself into positive or neutral value for Beal, Hayward, Harris, Poole as a GM. Don't think I could do the same for Ben right now. And I think some of the other deals are small enough that they aren't in this tier yet.
Overall this list is going to look pretty easy to move in comparison to prior years, I think. Wonder if we get some 2016 style deals when the cap jumps.
Nominate Lowry.
Again this list isn't going to be awful. But his production is outpaced by this and next year's 28m guaranteed each.

One of the things I struggle with is separating how bad the contract currently is vs how much I blame the team for signing it.
I'll use Lonzo Ball vs Marvin Bagley for example. Ball is out injured and might never be the same. But he's worth his deal for the level he's played at. CHI looked awesome with him last year. I don't necessarily criticize their GM for that deal. Bagley on the other hand has never been good. All due respect, but I think their GM is an absolute moron for giving him 3 years.
That being said, at least Bagley can play. Ball seriously might not be able to. He definitely can't right now. So which is worse contract? I guess Ball. But which GM do I criticize more? Detroit.
Anyway... to get off my soapbox and actually vote...
Vote Bertans

I'm struggling with separating how motivated a team will be to get off the deal versus what it would cost. Like the Hornets would have zero interest in paying to get off of Hayward's deal but that doesn't mean it wouldn't cost them to do so. Conversely, the Heat will be plenty motivated to get off Lowry's deal. On one hand, it's not relevant, but on the other hand, if the trade won't happen, it won't happen.
Anyway, vote Bertans.
Nominate Lowry.

So if you had Bertans, you wouldn't package him and neutral filler for Simmons?
Like Dallas shouldn't trade Bertans+Dinwiddie for Simmons? What about Bertans+THJ for Simmons?

The worst Bertran or Dinwiddie could do is be too bad to play.
The worst Simmons could do would be to infect OKC’s young talent with an unwillingness to play, and inspire them to force their way out of OKC to a destination they preferred.

He had mental health problems that he's overcoming. He would inspire them to be great and to overcome extreme adversity.
Every team in the league would trade Dinwiddie+Bertans for Simmons

How do we know this?
Only one team could and I'll be honest I'm not at all sure that they would. Not that I think Brooklyn would accept it, but I'm not at all sold Dallas does that.
Me? I would do it and then look to retain Wood. But not sure about the Mavs themselves. And definitely disagree pretty strongly everyone would. And remember I spent a year before he got traded for Harden reminding people this is a good basketball player. I believe in the player still. But I do understand he is not for every team. At all.

Lonzo Ball
Injured, we don't know the insurance details but I bet the receiving team still has to pay a portion even if he never plays again, has never played a full season and usually misses a ton of games. Wonderful player if healthy, but that rarely happens, and might not happen again.
