Please vote for the #6 worst contract in the league - This is not "who deserves their salary the least, it's lowest trade value including factors like play, salary, age, health, etc. In addition, please vote for a player to replace them on the nomination list.

1. Duncan Robinson (4 years, 74.4 million - 4th year 9.9 million guaranteed)
2. Michael Porter, Jr. (5 years, 179.3 million - 5th year 12 million guaranteed, 17 million if 1x all-star, fully guaranteed 2 time all-star or All NBA, or wins title with GP requirement)
3. Klay Thompson (2 years, 83.8 million)
4. Ben Simmons (3 years, 113.6 million)
5. Lonzo Ball (2 years, 40 million - 3rd year 21.4 million player option)

Now that I look at it that LaVine deal is pretty scary. However I think I would take my chances on him or Beal over Poole.

Vote Poole

Nominate Bagley

There are at least handful of teams in the league who will offer expiring, and even throw picks, for Beal, LAvine, and Poole (next year, when PPP is gone), same for Simmons who was already picked BTW, I doubt anyone gives an expiring for THJ, Bertans, Rozier, Hayward, Fournier, Kyle Lowrey, Joe Harris and Tobias Harris, that's why I have very hard time rating these contract as better than bloated stars contracts.
Worst contract for me is Westbrook, the failure of the experiment in LA, and their inability to trade him for smaller contracts, even as an expiring is a testament to how bad this contract is, 47 million for a player I doubt anyone gives 10 mils in FA, he's a TPMLE guy at best, like John Wall, who I'd argue, is a better player on the downhill of his career than WB.

Crazy that MPJ and Simmons are in the top 6.

Can we define what a negative contract is? I’d define it as a contract where you need to send positive assets out just to unload and break even (ie expiring deal or
Equivalent).

If Denver wanted to move MPJ, they wouldn’t need to attach assets just to unload him. Denver is one seed and he’s still young, plays a very unique scarce role in the league being a 6’10 guy who can play 2-4…teams would want him and still take a solid flyer on him. If Chicago, for example, was to consider moving Lavine, they may look at MPJ.

Simmons has more merit to be on this list, but is playing well enough and showing signs and is young, that teams would still take that flyer without Brooklyn needing to send back positive assets.

When I think negative deals, those that teams need to attach positive assets to, Marvin Bagley and Bertans come to mind. Both wouldn’t play in many rotations and are signed to lengthy deals flirting with high teens salary per year. Those teams would absolutely need to attach solid positive assets for any team to absorb them.

Healthy MPJ isn't worth the Max and he comes with a huge health risk, no, I don't think DEN will have easy time unloading him, and he'll be traded for one of the contract you listed as bad, maybe a desperate team like the Lakers will offer Wesbrook for him.

Vote Russell Westbrook- He's basically the most overpaid 6th man in history. Really hard to move him in a deal that doesn't require the Lakers to take on a deal they don't want.

Nominate: Texas Chuck

Unsure how Westbrook wasn’t top 3. Lakers couldn’t move him with an unprotected 2027 1st…need two firsts just to net role players back?

Bagley is Ja Okafor 2.0…weaver just doubling down on his mistake here and trying to prove he can be resurrected…unsure what real modern nba skill he brings. How many teams is he in the rotation for? Could be 0 outside of Detroit

Vote Bertans, open to Fournier instead.

Nominate Lowry. In fact, I think there's a good chance Lowry would be harder to move than Simmons and Ball. Teams can talk themselves into good outcomes with younger players, but once a guy appears spent, that's it.

I mean we don’t know any of that. IIRC we got some rumor reports about talks that happened. One rumor was a lottery protected 2027 1st for Doug McDermott and Josh Richardson. But I don’t think there’s any certainty about what they could or couldn’t do.
