Woj's time taken to type this out has to be more valuable than any of the pieces involved here

Besides seconds for taking on some salary this year this may have partially been taking away guys so your coach stops playing them. Bruno was playing over Garuba despite Garuba being better because Silas wants PnR offense and a dropping defense

Bey into the TPE.

This is to stay under the Tax and save money:

In:
Fernando: $2,717,391
Bey: $2,959,080 [absorbed into TPE]
Matthews: $2,000,000

Out:
Holiday: $6,292,440
Kaminsky: $1,836,090

Lux Tax Space before trades: $1,181,201

Does this create the tax room for Bey which means no salary needs to go out for GS to save 50 mil?

Yes, no amount of 2nds are worth a 1st.

Fernando might be worth one as well, but kinda.

I feel like Matthews can help Atlanta. He adds a good 3-point shooter to their rotation and (while it's tough to tell amongst the headless chickens in Houston) I think he's a passible defender.

He gives effort and draws a lot of BS offensive fouls by absolutely getting obliterated by screens (on purpose lol) but in any 1 on 1 situation he gets shaken out of his shoes easier than any wing sized player I've ever seen. He's a fine shooter off the bench but probably not an every game rotation guy

Compared to J holiday and Frank the Tank he is a god on defense at this point atleast lol. His defensive Raptor is actually very good like a +4.0 (top 35 or so in the league) compared to Holidays -2.5 and franks -7.1 (3rd worst in the league with over 100 minutes played) Frank is down right dreadful on that end of the court. Bruno was a +1.3 so he is a +defender as well to replace Frank which is nice. I know defensive raptor isn't end all be all but it's a good solid one to keep up with.

I think a stat that has garrison Matthews as a top quarter of the NBA in defense says more about the stat than anything else. Matthews is a totally fine 9th or tenth regular season guy, but he cannot guard in space. Not trying to diminish him or whatever but if you think he will be a good defender you are setting yourself up for disappointment. He takes charges, that's where he contributes
