Anthony Davis current trade value

Assume:
Continues playing at current level in playoffs
Lakers lose to Nuggets in competitive series, loss not due to anything negative about AD
Lakers look to cash in while they can this summer before highly restrictive CBA kicks in

Under contract:
2023-24 - 40m
2024-25 - 43m player option

What do you believe he is realistically worth that the Lakers would accept?

AD’s value is so weird due to availability and age. If he was playing full seasons without issue then the lakers could get quite a bit.

More to the Lakers than anyone else.

Similar to the KD trade, a very good young player and future mortgage from a contender, he's been a dominant defensive force and a good offensive weapon next to a lead guard, and he does this after plethora of injuries which is saying these injuries didn't really affect him, he still has 3-4 years in him.

They wouldn't accept anything. Maybe they will after next season but they are running these team back and the only player they would move AD for would be Jokic probably.

I wouldn't be surprised if LA would decline for Giannis, Curry, Luka, ect.

He's a bit like Kwahi Leonard. You know you're not getting anywhere near 80 games during the regular season. More likely 40-50 at a high level.

There's a good chance that he's unavailable or injury-limited for the playoffs as well, but maybe he's not. So each season (if you're good enough to make the playoffs with limited help from AD) there's some chance (50%? 35%? 20%?) that you get an MVP tier player for a playoff run, which is huge.

Due to his injury history and inconsistency, I see the interest for AD if he's put on the trading block being very, very low.

They would never turn down Giannis or Luka, and probably not Curry. I get Giannis and Luka aren't perfect Lebron partners, but Lebron is 40 and those guys have 3 years of team control.

I agree they aren't trading him but if the Bucks or Mavs just lost all brain cells, the Lakers would gladly take their stars off their hands and get rid of the AD health risk.

It’d take the right team to make an all in move on AD. Teams that have the assets, have the depth to not only still maintain without whomever they trade away but to outlast AD injuries, and are on the timeline of winning now aren’t very plentiful. Like Boston is the team that comes to mind and after them things get pretty dicey.

It depends how the season pans out. I just have a hard time seeing a team that played so well once the right pieces were in place to trade a player who looks like a Top 3 player in the league [in the post-season] for a different player.

Answer here. Lakers are going to try and win a title next year regardless if they win/lose this year. Healthy AD gives them a better chance then anything they can realistically trade him for.

This is a pretty wild take. Turn down Giannis or even Luka for AD? He’s obviously a great player but he’s older, injury prone, and has been a bit inconsistent these playoffs.

Only under contract for one year and injury prone. Not a ton of trade value except to a contender that thinks they can sign him long term. When he is right he is a game changing superstar.
I agree with others that the Lakers are in win now mode and wouldn’t likely trade him unless they get a star back.

In a vacuum a reasonable package would be a first round pick, swap rights on a future pick, a player with star potential and filler. Assuming those picks are coming from a contender so not lotto picks.

I don’t think any top 10 picks this year would be moved in a theoretical AD package.

Yeah, if you get this version of AD he’s an expiring. He only isn’t an expiring if he ends next season injured.

I don’t see it likely he turns down the opportunity to lock in another 4 year huge contract that pays him through age 35.

I think they could get in the realm of what Durant got the Nets. But I don't see it happening.

I mean his value to us is probably way more than teams would give up for anyway so I think it's a non starter. Maybe post LeBron if we do go into rebuild mode again (unlikely a full one, more retooling).

They'd take that deal, but we all know that isn't happening.
