I'll throw this trade out there to see what type of responses I get:

Warriors
Klay + Kuminga + GSW '27 1st
for
LaVine + Craig + Wainright

Warriors move off Klay and get LaVine. The Warriors would not have to worry about Klay's extension moving forward. They have to give up on Kuminga and a first. They also save ~$5m + the resulting tax.

Portland
Brogdon + Wainright + GSW '24 1st
for
Kuminga + Fultz + DEN '25 1st (via ORL)

Trailblazers take a swing at Kuminga to see if he fits long term. Fultz can either be the 4th guard or be used as trade bait for future moves. Portland also pushes the pick back a year into a stronger draft.

Chicago
LaVine + Craig
for
Thompson + Schofield (convert from 2-way) + GSW '24 (via POR) + GSW '27

Bulls get Klay's expiring contract while dumping LaVine's. They get a chance to evaluate him with the chance of resigning him at an appropriate salary (without the emotional baggage of past years). Craig is included to keep below the tax & Schofield is a reasonable 2-way prospect that can be converted to a regular roster while staying below the tax. The big 'win' here for the Bulls are the picks.

Orlando
Fultz + Schofield (2-way) + DEN '25
for
Brogdon

Magic get someone to help steady their guard rotation and push for playoff wins.

Not crazy about adding Fultz, POR guards need a vet mentor and Fultz doesn’t seem to be that guy.

Not crazy about sending out the GSW puck, that might be pretty good if they can’t right the ship.

Not as crazy about Kuminga as other folks seem to be, but having a forward that is an nba level player might be nice.

That article isn’t saying what you think it’s saying.

Warriors pass imo. LaVine on that contract would only be interesting at a much smaller price tag

A downgrade of picks for the blazers make this DOA

I'd only be on board with this if a protection is added to the Warriors pick that Portland has going out. Like if it is top 10, Portland keeps it and Chicago gets the Denver pick, but if it falls out of the top 10, then sure, Chicago gets it and Portland gets the Nuggets pick instead. But without that, I think the hope of the Blazers getting a top 10 pick outweighs the benefit of landing Kuminga.

Since our 2 starting guards are out, Id welcome the steady influence of Brogdon... that is assuming he won't be the next one to join the injured list. ( he is the guy with a lot of injuries as well right?)

Feels like the Warriors are overpaying

Does Kuminga really hold much value right now? His numbers don't look that good and he has only one more season under his rookie contract. A team trading for him would have to be trading for potential and I am not certain he has a lot to offer there. I certainly wouldn't give up Brogdon and what has the possibility of being a lottery pick for him and what is likely to be a late first.

It's too much to give up for the Warriors for Lavine. He's a gifted guy for sure, but that contract is enormous and I'm not sure he'd be the tipping point to get us on track for a title.

Pass.
