Not in the market for another 2024 FRP IMO.
Brogdan for Fournier + WAS or DET FRP is what I am thinking is much more realistic.

Agreed.
No to the initial Simons trade.
Yes to Brogdon <-> Fournier + DET 1st.

It would be interesting the Knicks offered Pistons FRP + Wash FRP + filler for Simons.
Pistons FRP might not convey at time soon but that pick protections drops from top 18 to 13 in 2025,
top 11 in 2026 and top 9 in 2027
Washingtons FRP is top12 protected in 2024, top 10 in 2025 and top 8 in 2026
Simons would be a solid get for the knicks and Portland could end up with just future SRP's but one has
to wonder if they are willing to roll the dice for future rewards?

I would probably need a NYK FRP with Top-8 protection to move Simons. Dont think the 2 highly protected picks gets it done.

Those Mavs and Bucks picks don’t have much value, especially to the Blazers. Do the Knicks 2025 protected top5 and 15-30 through 2028 and then becomes unprotected. Blazers are going to want some legit value to move Simmons I would guess

Ya, thats the type of pick PDX would want - but it also encumbers NYK for years. I think they want to keep their own picks for a 3/3 offer if a superstar becomes avaliable. It makes a trade for Simons pretty hard as the picks they own are meh and their own picks should be kept in the war-chest for a bigger needle mover.
Again, Brogdan makes much more sense. Would only cost the WAS or DET FRP and they add a guy Thibs would love while keeping the war-chest intact.

Bucks pick should be fairly late assuming healthy Giannis, though their core continues to age and the RS matters less and less. But the Mavs could easily turn over a lottery pick. Nobody can look at this Dallas team and think oh that's a top 10 team.
And nobody should be giving up a pick protected like that for Simons.
I think you are both overvaluing Simons and too sure of where picks are going to fall particularly with a maddeningly inconsistent Dallas team that just picked 10th last year.

Wow that's 2 times in a roll I agree with TC, were going to have to stop this. People are going to this something up.
Also NY didn't want to pay IQ $25 M so why would they want to pay Simons that while also turning over 2 1st?

Have no fear. I posted Grimes was only worth 2 2nd round picks in another thread. When you see that post you'll be right back to thinking my take is idiotic and order will be restored.

That’s a fair point on the Dallas Pick. At 24 yo Simmons has room to improve. He is an elite shooter and his contract is fair. I think blazers value him pretty highly and wouldn’t move him unless they get a really good return. Maybe tone down the protections in the pick I proposed, but I think they need better than the OP to move him.

Yeah that what I'm talking about, let the good times roll. I haven't seen the Grimes post yet but I will be sure to disagree
with it when I see it.

God do I hope that's how other teams value him so our FO is forced to keep him and use one of our protected FRPs instead

Do you really want to put 6'3 no defense Simons next to a small pg like Brunson? Also where are the touches for Simons, between Brunson, OG, Randle he definitely isn't putting up 15+ shots in NY.
I'd double down defensively for NY.

I have my doubts whether Simons is the right guy, but we desperately need a 3rd creator. We're relying on a career year from Donte DiVincenzo for non-Brundle creation right now. OG is a nice complementary guy, but he's not a throw him the ball and ask him to create guy.

I think the offer is off for Simons.
It should be Fournier/Grimes/choice of 24 FRP for Simmons

I agree. I want to stay away from Simons whose offensive rating is 8 points lower than his defensive rating. His offense is not worth the horrible defense that he’ll provide.
Ironically, while agreeing with a Kings fan, I would actually really like the Knicks to trade for Harrison Barnes.

Knicks can hide his defense. This is overblown. If I'm the Blazers I want 2 firsts for him. He's a potential breakout candidate to become a leading scorer for a playoff team. He's exactly what the Knicks are (at least reportedly) looking for.

Simons wouldn’t be my first choice, but if the cost to acquire him is 2 heavily protected first round picks, that’s worth the risk imho. We need a combo guard who is a microwave scorer and someone who knows how to distribute and handle the ball when Brunson is on the bench. Simons fits the bill. And then I assume we’d flip him in the off-season in a deal for a star.
I’d like to get Reath too.
Brunson/Simons/McBride
Donte/Simons/Grimes
OG/Grimes/Hart
Randle/Hart
Hartenstein/Reath
