Mikal Bridges to Houston
This is the only way Brooklyn can properly reset - by getting their own picks back.
And Houston has this asset that's worth more to Brooklyn than to any other team, so why not use it to full value?
Brooklyn trades: Mikal Bridges
Houston trades: Jeff Green, Victor Oladipo, 2024 BRK 1st, 2026 BRK 1st, give up swap rights on 2025 BRK 1st
Why for Brooklyn: Now this team can finally, mercifully tank by controlling their own draft for the next 3 years. Every other rebuild scenario runs into the problem that Houston owns all their picks, so there's no benefit to tanking. This trade fixes that. Now they can follow up with a Cam Johnson trade, a DFS trade, a Royce O'Neale trade, etc, and go full youth rebuild - their own picks in 2024-26, plus those various PHO/PHI picks, plus whatever they can get back through these secondary trades. A bit of a baptism by fire, but one that's needed for a team that's been on a decade-long gambling binge.
Why for Houston: This team is in a weird middle ground; Sengun emerges as a star, Jabari Smith is on his way to being one, but then guys like Jalen Green, Thompson, Whitmore - they're still developing. Meanwhile they've got Van Vleet and Brooks, they are semi-competitive. Why not bag a high-level guy like Bridges? The picks are nice, but how many more young guys can they draft to add to this team's youth? Bridges let's them roll out a suddenly dangerous FVV/Bridges/Brooks/Smith/Sengun lineup and have the youngsters develop as bench squad of Green/Thompson/Whitmore/Eason.

2 1sts and a swap is poor value for Bridges and like the poster above said, the Nets have no interest in tanking.

What are the odds at least 2/3 of those picks are top ten? Pretty good right? I don't think I'd spend multiple top ten picks on Bridges for a team that isn't competing and desperately needs that third/fourth guy to finish off the team.

I don't think this moves the needle for Brooklyn.

Re: Mikal Bridges to Houston
I think is a good trade for both teams. Makes sense for me. I would include Jalen Green as a younger player with potential and Cam Whitmore + 2024 BRK 1st, 2026 BRK 1st, give up swap rights on 2025 BRK 1st + fillers
I think it is a fair value and BKN can say no to that package.

Absolutely no interest from Brooklyn. They rightly have no interest in a tear it down to the studs rebuild. They have a lot of future assets. They have a lot of tradeable players. They're the 9th youngest team in the NBA by average age (younger than the Rockets). They will have max cap space in 2025. They're going to try to make a splash in 2025 (only a year and a half away), which is there quickest way back to relevance. The moronic drop coverage defensive strategy when the personnel is best suited to switch, and the terrible PG play has had the team greatly underachieve this year. Those are easily addressable. There's no need to go nuclear.

Fair value? On what planet?
Who do you think Bridges is? He is not worth anywhere near all that.

Simmons looked incredible yesterday too.
They might have to reevaluate their plans if he can stay reasonably healthy the rest of the season.

Borderline all star in the best contract in NBA right now. Not to mention almost lockdown defender, can score from anywhere and at his peak. Any trade for him starts with 4 FRPs.

Mikal to Philly makes the most sense. They can get 1sts and player(s) (eg. Harris)

Re-evaluate in what way? Needing to re-sign him? If he can stay healthy, I can see him brought back, but he's not sniffing big money. He's going to be viewed as too big of an injury risk by everyone command huge money unless it's all non-guaranteed with major games played incentives built in. MLE-level money tops, and even that sounds high.

If he balls out like he did last night between now and the rest of the season, he'll make more than MLE. There may be conditions a la Zion's contract that trigger money guarantees, but that's it.

Re: Mikal Bridges to Houston
First, Rockets are not looking to deal prospects. Whitmore looked amazing last night. Sengun and Green were really good. Even Jabari was solid in a complimentary role. Amen looked like a rookie.
I might give picks for Mikal but not prospects. But then the wings are more overloaded (brooks, Eason, Whitmore).
Rockets could use a star guard (Booker, Trae, etc). Also a defensive big stopper.

I doubt the Rockets would trade Cam Whitmore straight up for Bridges right now.
Cam Whitmore, Jalen Green, plus multiple firsts and swaps is downright comedy.

Re: Mikal Bridges to Houston
Yeah I just don't have Bridges worth 4 unprotected 1sts. Of course I don't have Houston turning down Cam Whitmore/Dipo for Bridges either.
I just don't value your team's players enough and I apologize. They absolutely are worth that.

He still has one more full season as well. He could ball out next year too.
Obviously this is all premature and he could hurt his back getting back getting out of bed tomorrow but what if he returns to form as Brooklyn’s clear cut best player?
Simmons next contract could be anywhere from vets min to a Zion style full max with injury protections.

Re: Mikal Bridges to Houston
If a 'borderline all star' is worth 4 unprotected firsts, then what is Jokic, Embiid and SGA worth?
10 unprotected firsts? 15?
If the Nets front office is that delusional, Bridges will not be traded.
And the Rockets are going to enjoy all of those future picks.
Thanks for Tari Eason already, by the way.

I think that Jokic and someone of that caliber is probably worth solid young players and 6-8 1sts in this market. Tari Eason is playing well for a young guy. We Nets fans say "YOU are very welcome!"
